I quite like these decals. Nice job

Are you going to take it to the 'Ring?
At some point, likely this summer!
Got the car for 10wks now, only done 600miles yet. It is criminal, I confess.
I crashed an old 306 GTI6 at the 'Ring back in 2006. I'd only been driving for 6 months and it was my second trip there. Bit silly on hindsight, but hey ho, I don't regret it. When I get my M2 Comp in March I'll be tracking it, but I'll be taking it easy and sticking to more sensible tracks to start. I live near the Bedford Autodrome and can't wait to take the car there 😎🤪
Sorry about the Gti, I crashed a JCW 4 years ago in the welsh mountain. Big lesson learned: 1. Learn your car. 2. Respect the weather
Indeed. I left the car over in Germany and eventually the MIB caught up with me. I had to pay 2400 Euros in the end.

One think I know for sure is that I won't be driving like Joe Achilles trying to get the back end out deliberately on public roads as I'll just end up in a ditch. I really want to learn the car on track and push it there, but still enjoy a spirited drive on the B roads 👌🏻

Process was quite painless; just downloaded a file from an email on to a USB stick, inserted it into the USB port under the armrest, and force rebooted iDrive by holding down the volume knob. It looks like what their code does is just disable the split screen. When you hit the 'option' button, the 'split screen' selection is greyed out.

Can't wait to try it out on the road, will be most helpful for maps.
Nice job. Can you pm the contact, I need to do the same!

Nice. Are they BMWP graphics or did you have them made up?

Honestly I was a little worried about it, but it ended up being easier than I expected.

1) Disconnect the battery negative terminal in the trunk.
2) Remove the steering wheel airbag with flathead screwdriver in some access holes in the steering wheel column.
3) Use a T20 torx bit to remove the three torx screws holding in the trim.
4) Remove the trim by carefully pulling each tab free.
5) Remove the button plate on the left side with another T20 torx screw.
6) Unscrew three phillips head screws to open the button plate and access the buttons (be careful not to let anything fall out of the assembly after opening).

I followed most (but not all) of this guide. I didn't remove the entire steering wheel as it's not necessary. This youtube video is also helpful. But again, you don't have to actually remove the entire steering wheel. It just helps you figure out how to remove the airbag and where the screws are.

It was a little intimidating at first because I did not want to remove the steering wheel/air bag, but I ended up doing it and it wasn't as bad as I thought. See this post.

I initially considered just trying to rip off the old buttons and breaking the clips in the process, but in the end you can remove the steering wheel pieces and install the buttons in about 15 minutes tops as long as you have a T20 torx bit.

Thanks for the information- it doesn’t look that bad 👍 😀
