Tires: Going Wider vs Stickier

Has anyone tried stickier tires in stock sizes rather than just fatter rubber?

I'd like to flash the M4 CS tune but will definitely need to address the lack of grip in stock form.

I track this car occasionally and it would be great just to use a set of 437M with something like an R888 in stock section width.

You can check my thread about a similar question: OEM Size RE71 vs Wider PS4S https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1648150

Personally I bought a second set of 437m and wanted to try 265/30F 295/30R R888r for max all out grip at the track but I was also curious because they exist in stock sizes. Goodyear Supercar 3 are also available in OEM size and seem interesting.

I'd find a nice tire combo and combine it with what was mentioned in the thread PLF69 share, to adjust your suspension for more traction on top of the upgraded tires.

The Supercar 3R's are getting really good right ups. I was going to run a square 275/35, or 285/30 setup on 18's. But I ultimately decided to run the new A052's in 265 & 295 sizes.

that is kind of what I did, I went with stock sizes 245 / 265 and yokohama ad08rs
I also went from 19 to 18 inch wheels and went up with sidewall size from 35 to 40 just to get that little bit more movement in the tire, racecars also don't have sidewall ratios of 30, small sidewalls limit the movement of the tire and therefore lose grip more early at least thats my understanding..
although I couldn't track the setup yet on the street it feels promising and in my opinion it looks amazing
another point is that smaller tires are less expensive

I really like your setup ! Almost went that way also but deals on 513m are rare and I didn't like to be limited in going larger than OEM sizes tires.

The ride is probably even better than and looks even better on the M2 !

you are right, deals are quite rare but you could easily get a set of them over here for 1500€, I got mine for 950€ which is a bargain in my opinion, either for 1500€ it's a cheap set of rims for what you get

yep ride quality definitely improves, bumps and so on feel way more damped in a positive way

Just put some 265/295 R888R on and it has been awesome. I put them on the stock rims and no rubbing. Stage 2 stays planted and cornering ability has been greatly improved. The car looks far more aggressive but also flings junk all over the side of the car.

Would you have pictures of the fit on your stock rims ? I ordered OEM size R888R because I was to unsure of the fit on stock wheels, I also wanted to be sure to have no rubbing problems with my Ohlins suspension, but this could be remedied using spacers.
