Akra is the only system where you get more power, less weight and improved sound. I'll be purchasing the Akra-evo for my M2C as soon as I have the extra money.
No doubt the Akra is a piece of art.
The engineering and workmanship that goes into their exhaust is quite remarkable.
But $4.5k for an exhaust is hard to swallow for some of us, especially coming from the old JDM and domestic tuning scene.
There was a time when $1k was too much for an exhaust lol.
I miss the old days.

Also, if you haven't already, join mgruppe - https://www.mgruppe.org/ . They have relationships with BMW South Austin and you'll get discounts, etc. Also, I have a friend who owns a performance shop in Houston that can assist with purchase and installation of Akra (or other non-BMW performance parts like Akra, Carbahn, Dinan, etc.). If you're interested, PM me.
Thanks yaymitch! All very helpful. I'll definitely join mgruppe today. And I'll DM you separately get your friends info. Much appreciated!

I never came back an update with some later videos I made including some on track. I know earlier during the thread some of my videos were posted. These are all from the setup I have which is VRSF catless downpipes and Active Autowerke Signature Exhaust (Single 3.5" from front all the way back to muffler). Only first video was with OEM downpipes.

Active Autowerkes came out with an equal length mid-pipe for F80/82 M3/M4 model in attempt to offset the different length downpipes and create the classic inline 6 tone that I think we are all looking for. I am wondering how everyone feels about the exhaust sound with this mid-pipe; if the sound is subjectively better to anyone?

I know it's commonplace that folks don't like the S55 sound, but I must say that I like the rasp. It sounds violent to me...aggressive. I'm going with the standard Active Autowerkes mid-pipe to add some volume.

Oh ok. I though I saw AA tips in your exhaust. Did you put the AA tips on your stock exhaust?

I think I’m the only one who likes the raspy sound. Not a fan of active auto werk, I prefer the FI exhaust sound

Hi. Quick question about your AA setup. Is it much louder than stock or just the same loudness but deeper?

I'm inclining towards the midpipe with resonators since I find the stock to be perfectly loud...

It is only slightly louder than stock. While cruising with windows up on the highway it is perfect and will never bother you. If you feel stock is perfectly loud, I would definitely recommend going the resonated route...just to be safe.
