People talk about "old school flares" and show pics of 2006 E92 M3?
If you want to look at what an old school flares look like, please google 1988 E30 M3.

OP, thanks for the pictures.
No doubt, BMW spent time selecting the LBB for the flagship color of the M2. We all wish there were more shades... and these pictures help get a pretty good idea of MG on the M2. I like it in both colors so far... need to see the AW and BSM. Also, need to see it in person!!!! The winter wheels look ok to me. I think the stock 18" summer wheels from the M3 will look a little sharper and better on this car. Personally, if I owned an M2 I would probably get the M3's 18 inch wheels for the M2, with spacers for a nice meaty look on the car. |

Looks very pedestrian. Doesn't look M enough. E92 M3 still has me drooling when I see one, this one already doesn't.

Looks good. But at first glance with that color it doesn't look like a M. Defiantly hides its aggressive features.

Not a fan of the color because like many have said it softens the arches of the e30 m3 style boxed fenders

I had to look at car again to make sure it was M2. These Wheels are big disappointment and make the car look ordinary. May be the color too hiding all the curves as I said looks like an ordinary 2 series.

you do know that the E30 did not have 'original' flares....they used a supplier named Bauer for the flares----and guess what they are the EXACT same flares as on the Ur quattro which was designed BEFORE the E30 M3.
Cars like the 1M and F80 M3 have flares which are based off the true 'old school' BMW flares of the 2002 Turbo. The 2002 Turbo had true 'old school' BMW flares. |

And the new flares althought sadly less attractive are a significant leap forward in aerodynamics, as claimed by BMW and the M division in the write ups I have seen.
The explanations indicated that the broader length of the vehicle, spanned by the widening and gradual taper towards the back make these newer gen coupes even more slippery in the wind tunnel. And this is what is contributing to the elements which have so reduced the lap times of the new M4 and M2. As I recall, the sedan (M3) did better in the wind tunnel from the get go! And the M4 actually needed the additional spoiler built into the trunk to help on the lift, where the M3 did not. Go figure... less pretty makes faster on track. I am a fan of the flares, as I look at my E90 and think, "man, that is wide in the back." |

MG is a great color, but not every color looks great on every car. I think it's OK on the M2, but a silver color would have been better. Donington would have been a freaking home run, IMO.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that the hate will come from people who don't own the color. Anyone hating it and still buying it would be a moron.

Looks very poor with those wheels. Always disliked the Grey colour and this one is no exception. The absolute last and worst colour option on the beautiful M2.
