I hate to pop anyone's bubble but if it's true that Bosh signed a security guarantee on their hardware/firmware update then I definitely wouldn't make a purchase based on projected tuning possibilities.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but they will just respond to say they are working on it but no ETA. I'd love to be proven wrong but others including myself have already asked numerous times.

They responded and told me they are very very close to making all model DME after June 2020 bench flashable. They are working on it and believe it will be cracked sooner rather than later.

Well that's a tad more positive then their previous messages. I take back what I said

this has been their blanket response to all issues for over a year.

So further to this post from earlier, i had the time to check my MVED ECU build date. Im definitely on a "Version 2" ECU, bench unlockable.

Car build date 23 June 2020.
Bosch MVED ECU build date 18 Mar 2020.

As FaRKle! said, you can check ECU build date in ISTA without removing anything. Call up ECU functions.

Im wondering if anyone who pulls up a "Version 3" locked ECU in ISTA could check if their HWEL version is _003. It might show the Hardware layer version also matches the ECU version.

Awesome you just made the cut off!

My car is built 03 July 2020... so about 10 days after yours, I'm genuinely curious on what DME I have now ..

By the sound of the info put out there so far you may have the older one too, indications are mid/late July for the new one (date embedded in this thread somewhere).

Check with ISTA if you access to it?

So I spoke with a few s58 guys who have close ties with the developers of Bm3 and they have told me that bootmod3 is looking to crack the ecu’s of s55/B58/S58 after June 2020 with a very specific time frame of 2nd 3rd week of June as those 3 share similar security set ups. This is really good news for us and time will tell but right now things are looking better and better 🥂 🍻

Specific time frame as in they are aiming to crack by June or they are cracking all cars post the June 2020 ECU change? If the latter... this is just the same old response from them unfortunately.

Don’t want to be that guy, but wouldn’t hold my breath. This is basically the same 3 month-ish rolling timeline that has been out since OBD flash was locked, which was a year and half ago.

The original F series ECUs took years before someone figured out how to unlock. I wouldn’t be surprised if the latest generation took around the same time.

Question? Why isn't 400+ HP and TQ just not enough for most. I say just enjoy the car as it is cause it's not slow by any means in any gear. In time a solution may or may not generate. Given more and more stringent regulations in Europe and North America I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

Just my 2 cents.

If 400 was the right amount of power it would be what the CS has.

i think like anything else once you get used to the power after driving the car for a while it allows you to evaluate where / if it could be improved etc. i personally feel a little bit more power across the rev range suits the car without overwhelming the car.. M4 / m3 CS power and trq levels perfect

I’m gonna do the crankhub fix and probably go JB4 and sprinkle some ethanol in the tank prob 460whp/470wtq. That’s enough for me until something is figured out with the ecu ordeal. I’ll pull the trigger on a set of turbos as soon as I know the ecu is able to be bench flashed. Until then prob just dp and jb4

You've been convinced it's 3rd week in June. Seems a bit extreme to JB4 for the the few weeks until then. No?
