Vague clutch engagment
Recently I read a review of an M3 on Motor1.com by Chris Perkins. In this review, he states the manual 6-speed is not the greatest.
" I wish I didn’t feel so conflicted about the manual transmission. The six-speed makes this car more engaging, for sure, and I’m so glad it’s available as an option, but it’s just not a great gearbox in every scenario. Clutch engagement feels vague and the throttle calibration and gearing are such that it’s difficult to get off to a smooth start and quickly execute a clean 1-2 upshift in succession" I have been driving a stick for many many years and would have to say I agree with this statement in my 2020 M2c. Kind of disappointing. |

Remove the clutch delay valve, flush the clutch fluid, install a rear shifter bushing (such as the Turner one), and then get a tune that modifies the throttle control. I make a very specific tune for the S55 that manages the throttle control a lot better and more linear, removes revhang, and helps with some of the shifting.

Between the CDV delete and the AS SSK, I feel that my 1-2 shift is pretty smooth. Not sure which of those parts contributed the most as I installed together, but the overall shift feeling is significantly better. As I understand it, the "modifications" that Toyota did for the Supra 6mt are basically just changes to the linkages and bushings and all of a sudden it's great, but those changes are what the AS SSK also does.

CDV is a must on the M2, was quite annoying shifting before the mod.
Definitely also recommend either AS SSK or a solid mount shifter, ECS Trans mounts. Funny enough, the shoes I wear make a difference too - I find it hard to drive wearing runners, so I usually only wear chucks when driving |
