Replacement of underside plastic panel

Hi all,

I was driving on the highway, minding my own business, when I heard a distressingly load bang from the left underside of the car. I assume some road debris was kicked up by the front wheel.

Later, I discovered a fairly small plastic panel hanging down just in front of the left rear wheel. It came off in my hand. I think it was originally a horizontally mounted protective panel of some kind.

Can anyone let me know the name of the panel and how to get it replaced? Also, how important is it? I can probably upload a picture of the broken piece if necessary.

Thanks for any advice!

Car is a 2021 M2 Competition.

I think it's part #9 in this parts diagram link: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_9842.

It's a simple part to remove/replace and not too expensive (MSRP $114.73, $86.86 discounted at bmwpartsworldwide.com).

identifying the part of car from fragments reminds me of old jalopnik days when they'd group ID broken head light bits from fuzzy dashcam/doorbell cams pics and broken glass bits.

but its probably be alot easier to show us a pic of where it came from. i replaced 7/8 on my own, not too hard.

Just what I was looking for, thank you! Now to decide whether to try to do it myself or have someone who knows what they're doing do it.

Looking again at your diagram I think it is actually Part 7: "Extension, floorpan cover, side, left".

This picture seems to correspond:

Genuine BMW Extension, Floorpan Cover, Side, Left - 51757241837 - F22

The second image shows the "L F22" which I can see on my piece.

What do you think?

Edit: here's another picture:

EXTENSION, FLOORPAN

Yep, that's actually the part I meant to point to, #7, after looking at images of the part number. The pricing link I posted was a link to #7.

yeah it wasn't too hard. bunch of push pins and small screws.
15 minutes including setting up on quickjacks. prob would be easier on jack stands as the quick jack blocked some access
