Does NOT work with Apple Car Play
Just had my M2C updated. Dealer said everything was working fine but I tried to make SOS call after I picked up and problem was same - No audio. I then tried again (NOT in CARPLAY mode) and the voice call went through fine. SO, the update does not work if you are in Apple CarPlay mode. You need to click on Menu or Map to get out of CarPlay and voice will work fine after the update. Hope this helps.

It could be a bug with the software... I mean, I probably wouldn't bother because the odds the dealer can fix it without screwing anything else up is pretty low IMO, lol.

Went in for oil change and was told I’m also due for this software update…After reading through the thread I don’t mind doing the update, but my (maybe dumb) question is - can the dealer do anything on the software side that makes the ECU not unlockable? I have a ‘19 which should be unlockable, so I wouldn’t want to do the update if it’s gonna mess with that.

The takeaway I got from the thread is that the only things you'll need to redo are the options/features under the Headunit section of bimmercode.
I haven't been able to validate that myself since my car still is at the dealer. Hoping to get it back today but not betting on it. |

Got the car back!
So, lots of things seemed to have been reset. M Drive modes reset, full screen carplay is back to stock, ASD is back on, idrive remained on after opening door, lawyer screen ... I suspect everything from bimmercode was reset but I don't think I had tweaked with much else. Was able to turn ASD back off and change the idrive setting, but I am unable to access the Headunit section in Bimmercode now. It says "Exporting activation codes" and then pops up an error "error while reading coding data". Seems like the same think Frank K hit on page 2 ... Frank did you ever get that working? Here is the "activation codes" screen... Remember, my software update ran into some issues which is why it took so long. Here is what the invoice says. I wonder if some of this is related. "Performed SIB 84 08 22, completely programmed vehicle. Upon programming found vehicle to be asking for an enabling code, tried multiple times to download and install enabling code. Found activation to be failing every time, left with shop foreman for further diagnosis on concern. Submitted TSARA case [....], reprogrammed vehicle and performed enabling code activation measure after Technical created new activation codes. All features function normal now." |

So, it worked fine for me. This is maybe obvious but make sure your volume isn’t muted before pressing SOS? Ideally this shouldn’t matter but I wonder if it does. |
