Hrm. I might opt for the M2CS-Racing's method. I don't like the meshes in front of the grilles so much. Although those would stop the leaves and the cigarettes (??) from making their way in.

I just went through this....$40 in black aluminum called professional car grill mesh made by aggauto. Came out nice. The bumper was so easy to remove - most stressful part.

Two questions: 1. How did you attach the mesh? 2. Was there any drilling (i.e. holes in the bumper) involved? TIA.....

I used this one. I didnt pull the wheels off or remove the wheel liner - it was three 8mm bolt/screws to pull back the wheel liner in order to get the 3 screws (NOT the big bolt that is easy to get to) that you have to get out. |

Just did the same Rhombic grille like you did. Came out decent. Just took awhile with the removal of bumper.

Even though I posted this in the "what did you do to your M2 today" thread, I feel its appropriate to add my experience with the mesh install here as well...
I went with the Aggauto option. My total cost was $36.00 for two boxes and more than enough for full coverage. Initial thoughts on the mesh... very high quality and worth the money. The gloss finish appears to be premium and will probably last quite a while. The bumper wasn't too hard to remove minus getting a small sensor unclipped from the driver side. You need really small fingers for that. I cut up my right arm trying to get this damn clip out and finally could only get it out with the help of the wife with small hands after two hours of trying myself. Otherwise bumper removal/install was a total breeze. I'm not sure how this can be done in 2 hours though. Total time was 11 hours for me including a lunch and dinner break. I was careful and spent extra time taping up edges to prevent edge/headlight scratches etc. I went with rhombic shape 6x12mm just like ColoradoSpringsM2C. The mesh is easily bendable without damaging the gloss finish and could be bent outward to match the curved flow of the kidney grills just perfectly. It looks like the car came stock with these. I also like how you can install them behind the grills to keep largely the stock look. The Zunesports go over the stock grills, which I don't prefer. The zipties are not even really noticeable unless pointed out. My new mesh has already prevented multiple items from getting behind my stock grills and I've been able to easily pick the stuff out from in between the mesh and stock grills. Cigarette butts, leaves and bugs etc. Working great so far. Last edited by .Slug; 08-24-2021 at 10:40 AM.. |

Just to clarify, do you need one or two boxes of the AggAuto Universal 40"x13" Car Grill Mesh - Aluminum Alloy Automotive Grille Insert Bumper Rhombic Hole 6x12mm? At $16.99 a box, it's cheap insurance so want to make sure I have enough to complete the project- thanks! |

I'm going to go this way too, I think-- especially as a Carbonio front license plate frame won't work with the ZunSport grills.
Now, I just have to figure out which mesh to get either the 11x25 or 6x12 hexagon-- they look like they might match better than the rhombic?

I wish I had your DIY zeal Slug, but I don't :-(
So for those like me who are interested, Zunsport has the black grills back in stock, mine just got shipped out this morning: https://www.zunsport.com/us/bmw-m2-c...ront-grill-set
