I don’t think they will look crappy in either guise - regardless, you could always get them powdercoated if you wanted to go “blacker”.

I think the Porsche Platinum color would be awesome on these wheels. I might look into that.

Maybe I am exaggerating my stance and doubt the black will look "THAT BAD", however the last thing anybody wants is to pay extra for the black 788M to only find out that the bi-color was the way to go on HS. .

You are 100% right though, powder coating is definitely an optiono. I think the simple question we are all wanting to know is what type of black is applied to the face of the wheel on the 788M. Is it that crappy shiny black, or have they gone with like a gun metal brushed finished look .

These are reasonable questions.

Hopefully we will see some 788s that are easily distinguishable in the wild sooner rather than later.

HKS looks good here. Although the color difference on the plastic bumper is quite noticeable. This color will be difficult to match at a body shop.

They are the bi-colour. I ordered black with HS originally but switched back after realising that all the pics are of the bi colour wheels which look fantastic with HS. So much classier than the previous wheel!

You need a lot of natural sun light. Under Artifical light it is a milky-white and on a clouded Munich day it looks like primer.
A big reason I went with HKS is that the potential will be revealed here in the Mojave.

OP, those pics are great. Thank you. I am really liking this color the more I see it.

Yes, reminds of how mineral white has the same issue. Speaking of colors which are easier to match, I did see a BSM M2 today, all sparkly clean, and boy did it look good. Black really works great on the M2. Looks stealth, but very muscular. Has me thinking going black for a sec, but I must stay firm with my HKS choice.

I think the "black" version is going to look just like the 666m with black painted insides and a dark tint on the outside. Those are labeled "black" as well right. If the "black" wheels were going to be solid black, then they would be called "jet black" imo. The bi-colored wheels will lack the tint like the bi-colored 719m wheels available for the 2 series. This is just my speculation but it seems the most logical to me. Why would BMW stray from their current wheel descriptions?

It'll look good with CF Bits to contrast it.

Great photos. 'Hockenheim Light Grey Metallic' would have been a more accurate name.

Same here. Every time I see a spanking-clean M2, I think... should I?
But then I remember all the swirls and the tiresome job of keeping that black clean and I let it go.

They are called "Jet Black" in the UK BMW website / M2 Competition configurator...

HS looks great in these images. Thank you for posting.

My first choice was HS and now am rethinking AW.

Judging by what we have seen these wheels are not the black option.

The car looks fabulous; a leap above the current M2 imo.

Really good photos!

I think those are bicolour, and ordered mine based on this assumption.

I ordered mine with a package that came with the black wheels too, but I spec them back to bicolour

How is it a leap above? They literally changed three things about it LOL

I don't feel your definition of literal is accurate. However, the number of items changed (>3) are meaningful; in my opinion...

"LOL" really? Are you 10?

I didn't know conversation had to be taken so seriously on an online forum in a way I have to conduct myself like I can't have fun at all. There's nothing wrong with talking the way I do on here, if you don't like it don't point it out or talk about it. What are you, uptight?

I didn't say your opinion was wrong. I asked how is it a leap above, citing the minimal changes.

Now you're telling me how to react?

If you make a remark which is presumptively delivered in a derogatory manner you should expect there may be a response.

Then the fact you took it in a deragtory manner isn't on me, but on you. I don't see anything wrong with my response. But I apologize if that's the case. You can react however you want, but if you're going to snark back to make me talk in a specific way then don't expect me to just not snap back.
