All cars are coded in the factory. We just change the coding to make customized behavior. The reason I say that it may be coding is because my car had the turn signal issue so I recoded the turn signals and the problem stopped.
Edit: The M235i that I sold came with regular bulbs. I had to code out all of the safety checks for the bulbs in order to get my upgraded LED lights to work. Without the correct resistance and coding they hyperflash just like people are talking about in this thread. Last edited by AlpsRider; 06-04-2019 at 06:59 PM.. |

Thanks for the Suggestion Andrew . I am going to try this fix I found in these forums and see if that would work because even my ground wire has burned , if not I would do the retrofit instead paying the dealer

I swear, these thread jinx me. Just had the left signal malfunction pop up twice on my 20min drive. So that's three times in the last week. Never happened once before. Can see my mirror blinker flashing super fast during the error too. Gonna make an appt on monday w/ the dealer.
Edit - here are mods I've done "kinda" related but I doubt are the cause: - M Performance Carbon Mirror Caps - Euro Aspherical Side Mirrors - Coded with Carly (but I canceled my subscription so can't see what I coded) - Right headlight was replaced after an accident |

My M2 just did a right turn malfunction. First one in almost a year. Worked fine on the next right turn.

There is always the possibility of coding errors from the factory. The pre LCI had incandescent bulbs so they had to recode for the new LEDs in the LCI. Hyper-flash is often caused by having the wrong resistance. For instance, in the old days a cars turn signals would hyper-flash sometimes if a trailer was connected to the cars system. With newer cars if the coding is not specifying the correct resistance value the same thing could happen. I bought several LEDs for my M235i turn signals. Some if them hyperflashed and some of them had resistors built-in to prevent it.

I had this issue for the first time yesterday morning on the way home on a 2018 LCI. I was stopped at a traffic light for about 3-4 minutes with my right turn signal on. Once I turned the right turn error came on and then went off again. I was worried and took the car out again 10 minutes later and no error. Looks like it is quite common on 2018 LCI's.

I'm doubting coding is the problem with mine. I coded it 1.5yrs ago and the issue just started showing up two weeks ago. Reverted back to oem coding anyway, and got the same error later that day.

In that case, it seems like a hardware problem on yours. Did your turn signal Hyper-flash, blink, flicker or just show an error message?

Mine did this for the first ever about a week ago... happened about 1-2 mins after I started the car first thing in the morning and drove to work. I have had the car for ~10 months since new (2018 LCI)... hasn't happened again since.

Mine is in the shop for this now. I explained to him that I have the car coded, don't remember what I coded, but it was coded 1.5yrs ago and the issue didn't happen until now, so I doubt the coding is the problem. And asked to let me know before they update/change any software. I know the M2C can't run bootmod3 after the April 19th update, not sure if it's the same for M2, but I don't want to lose my tune either.
Will update later today when I hear back. |

Mine just went off again last night. Hyper flash and warning light came on. I'll be making an appointment today for next week. I'll update on what they find.

I took the car in Monday morning, apparently it was a faulty circuit board so they swapped it out for a new one. On the drive back home the error light never came back on so, so far so good. Let's see how long it holds up.
