Exhaust Valves Closed in Sport Plus To Pass Sound DB

So I'm planning to go to Laguna Seca in December. I currently have AA midpipes and I dont believe it will pass sound with the valves open. Is it okay if I unplug the exahust valves when they're closed and then put it into Sport Plus? Would this affect anything? I'm just thinking it should be okay technically since it's just closing the valves completely.

I have the same dilemma as you. I have MPE on my M2C and I'm registered to go on 10/1. It is a 90 db day at Laguna.

Check this thread. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1750168

Thanks for the thread. Seems like someone with a M4 passed 92db with AA midpipe in Sport+ full throttle

check the last 2 pages. I was asking about Laguna too. Seems like someone cracked their MPE with the valve closed. Thinking about setting the M1 button to efficient mode.

BTW, which event are you going to?

I have the stock rear muffler with AA midpipe. I know MPE cracks in general because I've seen a few people crack theirs. It been really hot at the tracks lately. I melted my stock rear diffuser at Thill last month lol.

I havent registered yet but I'm planning to go with SpeedSF in December or November. Might do another Thill event around those times as well. Hoping that the weather cools down. M2C ran perfectly fine in 112 degree weather on the track

Just a Gopro Hero5 mounted on the rear passenger seat. Put together some Ram Mount pieces together suction with a 6" extender. I taped up the suction mount during the track session to make sure it doesnt fall off the seat.

Installed a cf Autotecnik diffuser and painted the rear muffler black

Throw it in the MDM, which will eliminate the crackles and pops.

I also made this video which you may find useful:

So just got done with a 90db day at Laguna Seca- the M2 w/ AA midpipe and OEM exhaust seems fine in sports+ up the hill flat out. I didn't get meat-balled once.

The BRAP on the upshift up the hill is probably the only "risk" you might have, but i think this needs to happen right at the booth on the race line to blow sound. If you are concerned in the early sessions, you can probably game it with how you take turn 5. You can enter in third and short shift so you don't get the BRAP right at the sound booth. Or you can do go balls to the wall in 4th which will carry you basically to the bridge.

I was a bit worried (N55 with MPE) but I was only hitting low 80s with the valves open in Sport mode.
It will depend how far from the car they measure. The track I went to (not Laguna Seca) they measure from pretty far out and I easily cleared that but the S55 is louder.

Hey I met you yesterday. Sorry our conversation got disrupted. Anyway, what’s the offset of your wheels again? And how much negative camber you have?

Anyways, I got meatballed during my 4th session when I got comfortable and doing flat out after turn 5. They clocked me at 92.7 dB. Good thing it was almost the end of the session. Back to upshify early on the 5th session.
