What about flaps closed, how much difference. You're on stock downpipes and rear section right?
Yep! Stock downpipes and rear. I haven't heard it with valves closed because I disconnected them.

Yes, I weighted both OE and AA midpipes before installing. OE weighs 28lb and AA weighs 17lb, both without brackets.

Thanks a lot!
It would be interesting to know the weight of European OE midpipes with OPFs to see if there is a difference in weight compared to yours with kats

Indeed. While not exactly the same, my experience with the similar e9X M3 exhaust gaskets was that despite them being a "must replace" each disassembly, was that you could reuse them just fine quite a few times before replacement was actually necessary. And since I did the F87 with ~200 miles on the clock, I wasn't all that concerned.

I had my AA midpipe fitted yesterday and so far so good. It has a nice sound on initial engine start up, but is still relatively quiet when idling on Efficient. When on the road in Sport+ I can really tell the difference and hear the exhaust with the window down. When dropping to 3rd/4th at about 4K revs it sounds sweet and I think I heard some turbo spool, but I need to spend some more time with it, but overall I'm extremely happy on my first drive with it. I just need to install the ASD bypass this evening to hear what it sounds like in the cabin with no fake noise. Fingers crossed it sounds decent.

Highly recommend BimmerLink so you can play with the valves (open, auto, closed) and easily disable ASD. A lot of people say it's a pain, but really you just open the app and forget it for each drive. Pretty easy.

I will look in to BimmerLink, but because I already have the ASD bypass from the US I will use that to get rid of ASD.

With an adaptor in the OBD port and the BimmerLink app on your phone is it really that straightforward to open and close valves on the original exhaust / muffler?

All you need to do is launch the app when you get in the car, and all settings are in place from the previous drive.

Im glad to hear you are enjoying the AA midpipe, one of the best mods for this car in my opinion

Does the mid pipe void any warranty on the car?

Yes they are a single use crush type gasket. I replaced mine when fitting new exhaust, only £15 for a pair.

You could probably get away with it, but for the price I just changed them anyway.

Not just for AA pipe but any connection to bottom of DPs.

I am also quite interested to know about this for either the single or the EL midpipe.

I didn't do my installation but I went to Active to have them do it.

I was told sometimes the gaskets can come right off and they don't need to be replace.

Mine didn't come off as smooth and I had them replace them. I'd lean towards replacing them if you want to be safe. Sometimes the original gaskets can be reused without any problems.

So I've now removed the AA mid-pipe from my Comp as I'm trading the vehicle in for the CS.
Would anyone know whether the mid-pipe will fit on the CS?
