LOL i think we had some cross communication. Where is the exhaust maker located, just wondering if its not to far away and if its worth going for a listen.

Quick update, it all took longer then anticipated, decided to get rid of the OPF's, first mockup not ok, reprogram the CNC bending machine, define cutting points, it's a bit more then a weekend work we wanted the package to be looking as much as possibe oem like, anti cow utter, compact and "as high as possible" under the car. We also have a lot of adjustability in the exhaust, have to see weather we leave it in or weld everyting fixed. Pretty sure you can spot the bolts on the pic below. Made our life so much easier changing backbox etc.

Have been testing for a week now, the flaps are giving me a headache, it seems the ECU is not operating them simultaneously.......

Flaps open is way to loud and raspy to my linking, valves closed we're almost there, but in fact straight piped with flaps open, getting too old I think

Regarding the CEL due to OPF removal, I do not get it with the valves closed, and I do get it at WOT, however I have the AK motion display installed, seems to do the job just fine.

So next week the endtips will be installed (have temporary straights mounted), the resonators in the L and R pipe, entry into the backbox double the size, transition from backbox into last piece of exhaust smoother. This is still the final mockup (see the markings on it) used for welding frame adjustments etc, we will do some final adjustments next week, including the resonators and end tips and then retest. Until the tone hits the sweetspot. For now I can assure you the 6 in line sound is already there, but it is just too fíng loud / trumpetlike / raspy which we will solve with the resonators at the place where the OPF's used to be

Yes, stock controls over the valves, however they seem to do what ever they want, we couldn't identify really any logic behind when they are opened/closed and why.

With the AK Motion display you can control them with a touch of the button so all good.

At the moment we are trail and error getting rid of the rasp.
Not very complicated seen the current test setup but seen the fact that sexhaust sound engineering is an art, and not our profession, its a trail and error we're doing.

Aim is still the level of quality sound as provided in the AA youtube / white M3 revving on the bench. Almost there.

JDM look is temp due to the testpipes fitted. I will go for carbon quad tips, most likely we will testfit end of next week.

Keep you posted

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay in updates, we have been busy, and did the exhaust for 50% new.
Time over time the sound was very raspy so we brought in the big guns.
Big resonators in the area where the OPF's were, and 2 individual resonators for the silent mode (it is still valved)
As you see from below picture, the welding is to be finished, I am collecting the car this aft late to do another 2 weeks of testing, but have good hope this will be it.
We tested the "loud"version, just straight piped with the resonators in the mid and it was nice and deep and not raspy

Quick pic from 5 min ago:

Next sound testing this aft wiring up the AK motion display OPF deletes tomorrow to go WOT till redline with the rear mufflers bypassed with the valves open

The V2.0 shown earlier did not throw a CEL with the valves closed by the way, it seemed it was somewhat restrictive

End tips choice of many, 90mm, 100mm, stainless, CF matte, CF glossy, these are the Matte 100mm, which I like a lot.

To be continued

Great progress!

Do you have the pipe length difference just after the OPFs?

That is to say at the aluminium reinforcement plate level?

Let me first get the OPF delete working, did not manage to reach the wires, car needs to go on the lift to do so, the packaging around the pressure tubes is too tight for my shovles.

It does not throw CEL with the exhaust flaps closed, it does throw a cell after some 5mins hooning with the flaps open, and very randomly too. Sometimes after 5min. Sometimes immediately passing 5500rpm. CEL in an M2 is not funny as sometimes I would only be possible to drive 50kmh.....

Sound is "lekker vet en donker"
Upshifts are just addictive, just broap broap.
7000rpm with flaps open is pure 6 in line howl
Cold start with flaps open occasionally delivers a BANG.

You can imagine my 9 year old son being over the moon for this.
