I used that exact proclip base mount in the past, but I don't like how it partially blocks the one vent and I also don't like how it kinda slides around a bit. It's not completely terrible though.
Yeah, this one came with a small strip of 3m adhesive inside the top and bottom clip areas but I'm not going to use it (yet) as it's holding firm for the most part. We'll see how it does on the next track day.

Like you said, not perfect but it does the job better than a vent clip

I tried the TopGo phone holder from Amazon-- no joy. It was possibly defective (but I doubt it), but it was loose on the top, so the phone slid back and forth about an inch, which was fairly irritating.

I returned it and went with the Bokilino instead on Amazon-- much better fit. It's very similar to the TopGo, but seems to be sturdier on the top. I put it in the right cupholder, and it moves/bends/flexes enough to be out of the way of fifth gear (MT)-- and a 1' USB to Lightning cable fits perfectly as well. Additionally, you can bend it just enough that FaceID will work on an iPhone and the AC button won't be blocked.

So, Bokilino recommended, TopGo *not* recommended.

Yeah, it should hold OK at a track day as long as your phone isn't too heavy. Pretty sure I had mine on down at the Dragon, and I didn't use the 3M strips because I was waiting for a new version of the Kuda base to come out (they had to redesign it for the LCI's dashboard changes).

I tried that center mount magnet holder but it didn't hold my phone well. Swapped the pro clip with their wireless charging mount. Works great! I don't often have a passenger so blocking a bit of their vent doesn't matter much. Doesn't interfere with any other controls or screen.

Mega Mounts

Here's mine. It's a Mega Mount brand. They're a UK brand but they sell internationally. Pretty happy so far. The mount is a vent-mounted base. It holds my phone magnetically and offers wireless charging.

This is the first phone mount accessory, which doesn’t ruin interrior design of a car.

Something similar to YakyYaky's earlier post but with clamp holder instead of magnet. Just snaps over front vent's hazard light, central lock and temp control, had to re-place a few times to make sure it doesn't pinch hazard button. Also make sure to tighten back of clamp so when phone is attached, clamp doesn't move around.

I tend to leave it in the wireless charging cradle.
