I was next to a 2021 HS M2C and a Titanium Silver E36 M3 at Cars and Coffee. The 2021 looks a lot lighter in the photograph.

Last photo is a great comparison of the black vs. silver wheels on HS.

I used to be on the fence with silver vs "black" 788 wheels. In photos, I actually preferred the silver. However, I ended up ordering my 2021 M2C with the black wheels. While the car was already in production, I had second thoughts and seriously regretted my choice.

Fast forward to collection day. I saw the "black" wheels for the first time in person (because local dealerships only had the silver wheels on their M2C) and I knew instantly that I made the right choice. They are absolutely stunning and nowhere near "black". More like gunmetal or shadow chrome. In direct sunlight, the wheels look more silver than gunmetal and remind me of the factory 18" on the e46 M3, which I adored.

Long story short, I prefer the black wheel option, especially on HS. This car already has a blacked-out theme throughout, which is why I think the darker wheels are a better match.

I waffled back and forth between the wheel color options (and also the blue vs orange interior) for quite some time. The most frustrating part as you mentioned is the lack of options in stock at dealerships to take a look in person. I ended up ordering the black wheels since there are no other chrome elements on the car.

I fully agree, and not only are the 788s beautiful, black version is stunning and very fitting on this car. Just a bear to clean, but it really is a beautiful design

After one drive after washing your car, the wheels become matte black. Really surprised at the amount of brake dust that accumulates

Yeah, I love the stock 788 rims. I know that it's not a popular thing to say around here, but I adore these wheels and can't see myself getting rid of them. To me, visually, a rim must match the body lines of the car. BMW designers did an amazing job in that regard. The trade off is that it's a pain to wash due to the number of spokes.

I think the 788 look OK and strangely enough my wife really likes them. But the first time I washed these wheels I knew I was going aftermarket.

I agree with everything you said and will add its a pain to wash the front rotors off too. But it doesn't take that much extra time to wash them.

Nice Pics. Your teenage son or your mature, well adjusted adult son? Nobody in my family likes the M2 and my teenage daughter prefers the S2000. Better for me I guess.

Thanks! He's 24, well adjusted! He's a car nut, but went to school for engineering so he appreciates machines. (Break in limits respected!)
