Assume you also opted for that option? My logic was it was totally worth it for the extra limiter for the autobahn, but outside of that, it's not.

Edit...saw that you already indicated you ordered it.

Yea, but I can actually use it. I do 1/2 mile events and this would be helpful and also the M school is fun.

I'll maybe look into the 1/2 mile events. I agree on the M Schools, however, the only reason I purchased it was the limiter. I can spend money on M school and not pay sales tax on it! We'll see what happens. Guessing CA will just try to ignore it. I'll just say I'm going to pull the whole order. Then there might be movement. And the dance we normally avoid with an ED order begins!

1) I want to avoid driving in the winter
2) I can't take any time off Mid Nov through Christmas

Considering PCD would be at least +6 weeks when I cancel, I'm already looking at the first week of NOV.

The only thing holding me back at the moment is the news that Finland will start letting people in, even from high risk zones, with a negative test (link below). If the rest of Europe follows and I end up cancelling, I'll miss the opportunity.

Or, I wait until OCT 29 and worst case they ship the car locally and I road trip down to SC to do M School next spring/summer. I don't know. Tell me what to do!

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tamarat.../#1b972c8b6e81

I have the same issue as you with #1. I wanted to drive through some passes and it would not be possible.
As of right now I am set for 10/29, but most likely will be emailing Jon and Raven tomorrow to have the car shipped instead.

I will rent a M550d wagon next year from Sixt and follow my route from this ED.
I am keeping my M driver's pack since I do enjoy modifying and doing 1/2 mile events.

It really saddens me, but it is what it is.
I'm moved to October 28th.

At this point the car is going to sit for the winter anyway so getting it delivered in December vs February isn't a big deal. Might as well keep hope alive.

I mentioned earlier that I locked in my financing at 0.9% a few months ago. My third payment is next week. I wonder how many payments I'll make on the car before I even see it?

At least 4 based on the revised delivery date.

My CA said BMW won't comp on the M Driver's pack and all he can do is ask GM for something...but GM not likely because they lose an allocation and dealer incentive. I'm not sure what dealer incentive they lose but we'll see what he comes back with.

Sounds like BS, the dealer can provide whatever incentives they want to secure the sale. It may eat into their profit, but that's not your problem.

Yea...I was going to reply with a "there are no factory M2 incentives," but I think later on today I'll just say let me know if you can get it removed or I'm just going to walk away.

So, I told my CA that I'd take the car for PCD delivery directly at a price of $60,000 even, provided they throw in the 5/75 ultimate care scheduled maintenance plan (no brakes) that retails for $899 (I assume the dealer makes about $100-200 on this). ED sticker is $61,200, so I was assuming their invoice was around $58k and they'd probably make about $1200 and be happy.

He said that was too low. He acknowledged invoice of $57,420 and there only being $3,780 in the car and no incentive money from BMW on the ED, which was not a lot for a "hot car." I assume this is the holdback he's referring to. That said, his invoice is about $600 lower than what I figured and I told him I thought it wasn't bad for them at all, considering they're making $1800 and the car never hits their lot, never incurs a finance charge to carry, etc, etc.

I told him that if ED doesn't work out, I'd just walk. He said he'd get back to me, but I'm basically just wiped out.

Wow I'm really sorry to hear that, bit surprising. $1200 profit > $0 in 100% of cases in my humble opinion.

When do you want to make the decision?

I was hoping that he'd agree and we could get the car moving before it's too late to drive it home...in other words immediately. I think he's probably going to try to drag it out until I can't do ED and then hope I still want it. But by then, I'll just wait until spring and see what's going on over in Stuttgart.

Are you sure you want this car regardless of a couple thousand one way or another? I've been in similar spots and then had Buyer's remorse. Make sure you get what you really want.

I've wanted an M2 since the day they've arrived. The M2C only upped that. At all the M school events I've done in the past year or so, everyone wanted to be in the new M5C or the M4 GTS Ice Racer...I was the guy (one of a few) saying "I just want to get back in the M2."

That said, as it got later into the cycle I figured I'd just hold out until the next iteration...then some of the details on the new one came out and I wasn't keen on it. This happens simultaneously with the announcement of the end of ED. That really pushed me.

Couple this with Covid and the realization that I probably have a 2-3 year window of not having to deal with any seriously bad traffic (my normal commute to DTLA was about 2-2.5 hours a day total), and thus the same window to get back into a manual transmission, and yea I do want it. I just wanted to get a consolation for missing ED.

So, what's actually telling me no? It's the FOMO on an another ED period. My concern is that Porsche will soon pull the plug, and if I have this car for a few years before I can get one of those, I'll never get to do another ED again, period.

So, to sum up the above...

FYI, Porsche did pull plug from COVID but brought it back already. My new deposit with them can't be guaranteed ED, but I feel it is a safe bet. I think the program is more profitable than BMW on as it costs the dealer about 3k.

Is your deposit for next summer then? GT4 or GTS 4.0?

Expecting official reveal in next few months and first production hopefully will begin around March. I'm #1 deposit at a larger volume dealer but depends on when they get their first allocation. Ideal would be ED sometime in June-Aug '21.

Hope so, I understand your disappointment/dilemma in BMW ED situation. Really hoping things open up for you all. If not, 992 base is amazing as you said and probably an option for ED when borders open.

@F82PRETEND I have been following your journey since the beginning. Honestly, stick with your guns on the discount. If the dealer won't budge, go with a Porsche next year. Much better option and something you will 100% enjoy.

At first I was going to say the dealer was short sighted on trying to earn some more money on this deal. But honestly, they're playing it correctly. They know they can sell it with little to no discount on this car (we have seen this). So again it falls back on what do you really want. My sense is you have grown slightly attached to this car due to the ED experience. When I read your words previously, it was more excitement on the journey than the actual car. The experience of driving on the autobahn, etc.

Again, this is all from my perspective and you can tell me I am off. But I still want to nudge you to the Porsche next year. You have waited so long, a few more month and you can be fully satisfied with the toy from Stuttgart
