AFE Power inatake sistem opinion

No one has installed and tested AFE Power suction kits ?
They declare astonishing performances especially for stage 2 version. I do not understand so much difference between the two versions . In the end they are the same only that in stage 2 the airbox cover does the engine hood. Isn't it that they have tried stage 2 kits with open engine hood? In this case it would justify this difference in performance.

It should be considered that the power diagrams are referred to M3 and not M2 C

I would honestly question any intake giving you any meaningful power gains. Essentially you are getting looks and sound. If this doesn’t appeal to you a tune is far more impactful.

Economically, you are probably better served with just getting some drop in filters and removing the charcoal filter. Even then, it won’t be that noticeable or noticeable at all.

AFE almost always exaggerate the HP gains with their intakes. Its a good quality intake, dont focus too much on claimed HP increase

The first ones look like they integrate to the hood to seal off. Since we have different hood likely there will be issues there.

The other ones are very expensive. If your spending that kind of money then aught to look at the Eventuri unit. I have them on my car and they're near work of art quality.

It sounds funny like +18/20hp claimed for some catback exhausts More than 40hp of gain with intake and catback without tune, hilarious

I am also very sceptical about the declared performance (even if the diagrams seem real). Above all I do not understand the technical motivations to realize two practically identical solutions. I remain with the doubt that stage 2 could actually give you more power if you do a bench test with open hood. In this case the engine could actually draw a lot more air. But what is this solution for in the real use of the car?
My real problem is that after a while I get bored not to modify my car and on my M2C I've already done almost everything (central AA, tune ECU, VSC2, K&N panel filters, M spoiler, etc. ...).

I requested information directly from AFE Power and actually the published diagram was obtained with an open hood. I honestly do not think that is very sincere. Publishing performances that you will not be able to replicate on the street makes absolutely no sense .

I will stay with current K&N panel filters. This weekend I have cleaned them ( I have covered about 10.000 km ... about 6.000 miles ) . It was not absolutely necessary since they were still very clean without any trace of insects or other kind of dirt that I usually found on other cars I had. Maybe it can be explained since airbox sucks in air from inside engine compartment and not from air intakes behind bumper grilles .
