2019 M2 Competition Turbo Oil Leak - Dealer Says it's Normal...

2019 BMW M2 Competition - 5500mi - California weather - Daily Driven

BMS intake for approximately 500 miles is the only performance modification

I took the car into the dealer after this was brought to my attention and was told it is normal for the turbos to "sweat" a moderate amount of oil. While I do understand their point, to a degree, I find it hard to believe this is a normal amount of oil leaking from a 5k mile car.

Has anyone else noticed a leak similar on their S55 equipped cars? If so, can you please share your experiences?

Nope, not normal especially on such a young car. Also, I doubt the EPA (and CARB since you are in Cali) would agree an engine leaking oil is “normal” on a new car.

The oil leak is normal, it's apparently just blow-by from the PVC valve and a common S55 issue..

Turbo leaking, but dealer says nothing is wrong https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1545217

I strongly advise you to go to shop and make them write it down. Oil leaking in a closed system is never acceptable.

I mean, some of it looks like its oil in its liquid form and some like a build up of gas/carbon. You even have a spot of it on the turbo, above the black spots.

If you haven't already, I would ask the service manager to get involved. An oil leak should not be "normal" in this age where we lost our oil dipsticks because of "emissions".

In the past seepage is normal and any fluid that hits the ground is a leak.

Could one contact Pure Turbo and see their thoughts if normal or not? I would ask them what is normal and what is not since they specialize in turbos for the S55. I wouldn’t trust the dealers response at all.

To the OP. Is it hard to take off the under pan? Next time I change my old in the car. I want to take that lower cover off and inspect underneath for leaks.

I was at shop getting downpipes/springs installed and they were the ones to notice.

In regards to the underpan, at least while the car was on a lift, it took no more than 5 minutes
