Im doing it for the peace of mind from little nics from road debris, and the super ease of cleaning the car. You dont even need soap - water and a towel - dosent even need to be microfiber! Auto healing film for the win!
Im kidding - i use soap and microfiber towel - just for the shine. |

Hi, this might have been me. One minor correction is no A pillar. I did full front including hood, fenders, bumper, mirror, door cup, rocker panels, and rear luggage area. It's my first experience with PPF but so far love it!

As if a respray will ever look the same. And, you have to deal with progressive chips until you feel there are too many. $6k may be an extreme, however, $2K +/- achieves a dramatic protective environment where you are not trying to decide WHEN to re-spray.

It selfs heals small film breaks within certain parameters. It does not self heal swirls. If in doubt reach out to Xpel, they will tell you the same thing.

I'll go up to $2000, but not a penny more. After that my common sense kicks in and I ain't spending more than 5% of the cars value on paint protection.

Generally I agree with you, and I never pay to have it done. However, I bought a used 911 (993) with it, and it did help protect the paint although the edges started to come up, getting a nasty looking dirt line. My M2 had it dealer installed (it was a dealer halo car, with every option possible thrown at it) and I'm glad it's there, although I sometimes wish I had the cash instead.
Seems fair. Insurance is supposed to return the car to the state that it was in before the accident. So your insurance (or the insurance of the guy/gal that hit you) should cover a new Xpel application for the repainted areas.

Just took the car out today for a drive, and even though I heard rocks spraying the undercarriage, rockers, and fenders, I did not have to sweat the wear and tear on a brand new car. Will you be at the next cars and coffee? |

Xpel's webpage reads that even swirling is self-healing so my assertion otherwise was incorrect. However, an Xpel customer service rep told me otherwise.
