Painting M Sport Calipers

Just wondering if anyone has painted their silver calipers, or if they're paintable to begin with. Thanks!

You could just buy the red versions?

Part numbers are 34118745793 and 4.

Then sell the silver ones to an OG owner...

Hmm, I haven't see the red version and can't find in the net. Can you share a pic?

8'500 USD for the red m performance bbk in switzerland. Will certainly be cheaper elsewhere but expect to drop some real $$$.

I also wish the calipers had come in a different color. The way I see it, there are a few options. Probably the best is to take them in to a shop and have them repaint and reinstall them. There are a few shops in your neck of the woods that seem to do a good job. You could do the swap with the red BBK, as mentioned, but then you're limited to red, and it could be a while before your silver BBK sells. Finally, you could do the homegrown option, and use something like G2 to paint them yourself. From what I've seen, while this is the cheapest by far, it will look the worst by far.

I'm under the impression that these calipers are used on a number of other BMW models, but in different colours. If so, maybe look for some from a salvage yard in a colour you like.

You can definitely paint them, there's a mobile service that come out to you and paint them while you're at work or wherever your car is stationary.

The pros of that method is there's no downtime if you're busy at work or 3/4 hours if you're waiting. The con is that the back side of the caliper will be the previous color. Meticulous owners will cringe.

The correct way is to remove the caliper and have them repainted but that's very time consuming and would require uninstall, reinstall, and bleed the lines.

Really it would cost that much to uninstall paint and reinstall?

Yeah, the painting part shouldn't be too bad, but the actual re-install is the same as any other brake install.

Anyone know the part numbers for the red rear calipers?

These are the M2C 6 pots...

These are the OG M2 4 pots....

EDIT: The BMW sites has serious programming errors. It works when searching from Google but not when browsing. Either way they only show up when you pick a 2 series non-M car but they are the same 4 pots. In the past they were offered in Orange too.

If you hack the URL and use the 3824 it shows them for the M2C? You may need to study the part numbers to see if there's a difference.

Thanks for the update and info.

If i’m reading this right it’s $2460 just for the calipers and we get the choice of Red or Yellow (gold?) caliper colors? This will fit the M2C?

The lower price ones with the circles are the same as the blue 4/2 pot ones that came on the OG M2.

The M2C/M3/M4 version are more expensive 6/4 pot. Having a hard time finding a "kit" price

The color of the big brake calipers was a selling point for me...Don't like like colored calipers.
