That is by far the best sounding S55 I have heard. Looks awesome too.

Thank you Marc for sharing your experiences...
I’m probably going to go order an Akrapovic Slip-on once they’re available (just have to find a good deal... and a dependable workshop).
I wonder if there will still be some mild changes/ finishing touches on the final/ commercial version (since the design cues of the original M2 Akrapovic exhaust were slightly more appealing to me) and I’m also looking forward to having some more information regarding the (almost mandatory) Sound Kit and it’s implementation... more specifically if some tinkering with the wiring on the trunk will be required.

The final product will definitely look different, not so much if you look at the tail pipes but more the muffler itself. I think it will have here and there some changes on the looks, not size.

There is some wiring required and as soon as the final product is there dealers will be made aware on what is required. I cannot comment on the current wiring set up since it might not be the final solution they opt for.

Normally with the remote! Did you read my story on DriveTribe?

The button only switches between automatic (what the car normally does) and always open.

wouldn't it be nice if we could code a console button to do that... :-)

Unfortunately, not anymore... Instead I will do a video on the exhaust note with the linkpipe and without it.

Question is if sport cats are really needed with the linkpipe and slip-on already on it. We have to wait and see how the quality of sound is and if it is really needed.

Im thinking tuning rather than just sound.

The main CATs being the biggest restriction (or maybe not now with OPF)... Secondary cats were never an issue on N54.

Might be that losing OPF is also beneficial from a tuning perspective...?

Losing OPF not only makes it (more than) 'a bit' louder, as we already know OPF equipped M2C have a 0.1 bar higher boost than non OPF M2C so there should be some performance gain already.

According to the specialists, 20 hp more out of the box without a tune.

The guys in the workshop are installing the linkpipe on my car now after doing some tests on the stock set up.

I am looking forward to seeing the final result when I am back in the Netherlands this afternoon.

Link-pipe will trigger a CEL, right?(if ECU is untouched).
Btw. arround 505hp are possible with stock DP and OPFs still installed

Yes, it will throw a CEL for 100% as soon as you touch 5K rpm. We just tested it again today on my car! There is one chance it will not throw a CEL and that is for really early produced cars which run old software in the ECU.

Those cars will NOT get a CEL or go in limp mode, but as soon as the dealer upgrades the software you have a problem. You could call these people lucky for now.

Next to this we made a tune for my car today and it reached 480 HP and 680 Nm, we can go higher but my tuner always leaves a bit of extra margin. Next step is tuning the set up without OPFs and the linkpipe installed...

More than that tonight!

It would be nice to see the difference in power and torque between OPF and linkpipe with the same tune

What does early production mean?

There is hardly to none. The ECU trims the engine output to the maximum values that are allowed. There was no difference in our measurements, you would have to free it up with a tune and then you have a lot more room to play. I had 20 Nm and 5 Nm more on the dyno due to this.

Yours has the new software. It was produced after mine Not sure that is possible, your car would be a Christmas tree with CEL warnings.

Also produced after mine. It seems like it is only really early cars produced in August.
