What difference were they expecting? It's been known for a long time that the M2 will be more or less an M235i+. I've said it before, I'm a big fan of the base M235i, and would have bought that car if the M2 didn't exist. All I wanted were brakes, suspension, direct mounted subframe and diff from the M3/4.

Some people wanted a 2800 lbs and S55 powered M2 with 400+hp for $45k.

What would put my plans on hold is if BMW were crazy enough to price the M2 past $55k.

I noticed that, too.

Which seems a little weird. Why have that as the *only* bit of Alcantara in the cabin?

Really puts the size into perspective comparing the length of the centre console to that of the M3/4.

Hmm ditto. Feeling less enthused somehow with each new photo set. I know its totally re-engineered but it feels like a wider rear M235i, I'm certain BMW will make it special.

Also just noticed the one rocker swith for Comfort/Sport etc, will there not be separate switches for DCT, Dampers, Throttle & Steering like other M's? I'm certain yes but not in this shot.

I think some of these release pics are to set a low expectation then all of a sudden pow, the real M2 is shown.

is it just me or do the seats look like they have more support than the M235 ones pictured? looks like the bolster is higher but maybe its just the blue stitching that is throwing me off

Where are the toggles for steering/suspension/throttle and for DCT - Drivelogic?
Unless these are only in idrive now?

I can think of a few possibilities:

1. That isn't the production interior
2. It's all in idrive now.
3. Won't be available.

true dat - good point on the unrealistic expectations.

I am still thinking that $52,999 is the number - we shall see.

This.

I agree, the bolsters do look beefier to me.

Time will tell!

This makes sense - about $10K over an M235i. Similar to M3 $10K over 335i msport.

Well I can't say I'm surprised, this car is following in the foot steps of the 1M quite nicely.

Normal 2 series seats with contrast stitching have been confirmed for months now so no surprise there. The lack of any steering/suspension settings is actually quite appealing. The possible alacantara trim pieces aren't a surprise, the door cards and maybe even the hood over the speedo/tach are probably both in alacantara like with the 1M. The M stitching on the wheel is also not a surprise.

I rather like how unapologetic this car is turning out to be. This car might end up having the character many of us were worried it wouldn't have.

Will be disappointing if the seats are not upgraded to M seats. Anyone who tracks their car will confirm that a seat that holds you in better will help your lap times and consistency since you aren't death gripping the wheel to hold yourself in place in the corners. The standard sport seats are great on the street but are lacking at the track. I have been locking the tensioner and then moving the seat forward so that the belt is holding me tight. Now I've picked up 4 point harnesses and those help but aren't a substitute for beefier bolsters.

Have to say interesting point. It's the way they say take it or leave it that's the appeal. Clearly fit into the idea of "if you want anything else, get a M3/M4"

Yup! There's a good reason they called it Pyrat 2. It's a pretty fitting name actually.

I also plan on going like 1 option breh (heated seats) on this car
