Yokohama ADVAN NEOVA AD09 any experience?
I need to get some tires this week and just don't know what to get now. I was set on bridgestone re71rs. They are very fast from what everyone says but also hard to manage heat apparently and maybe not the best for a newbie. However heard they are decent in rain which I do like. They don't wear great apparently and specially if you are not on top of them with heat management. They are a great deal now with rebates.
I am looking for something else. Supercar 3s look great but don't come in a size I want. I have EC7 Apex wheels so I need at a minimum 255/35/19 front and 275/35/19 back. Other choices I have are cup 2s. old tech and not great in rain, also pretty expensive and just ok durability. Just saw these Yokos Advan Neova AD09 and read some reviews and apparently good wear on them, price is btw the bridgesones and the michelins and come in the size I want. Any experiences with those? Or any advice for what to get? Car is stock, camber plates will be going on it next month before track day, have about 8 or 9 track days and intermediate level. Will be driving car to and from the track but have dedicated track wheels. |

TLDR they’re fine, but not great. RT660 or RE71RS for me… |

Seems like the Yokohamas are similar to Ventus RS-4 and is more an of endurance tire which is not all bad. Its not that I don't want the fastest tires available but I still have a lot to learn and will trade some durability for some seconds and going from a PS4 I am sure these will be faster and show some improved laps. I don't know how much has been written about the AD09 but I think the RE-71RS would be a fine enough tire for you. It's unfortunate that Hankook RS-4s aren't available in the size you want because that's a good tire for lapping and learning on. Same with the GY SC3.
The RE-71RS is not going to drop off a cliff and it's pretty easy to manage the heat—if you find the car giving up grip, back off a little bit—1-2 tenths—for a lap and concentrate on your inputs. They get better at managing heat as they wear. It's kind of a magic tire, but that can lead to masking your mistakes so something to be aware of. The AD09 is kind of a hard pill to swallow to pay more for a slower tire. |

Upgraded to 71rs from PSS. Fully stock I’ve done 7-8 track days this year.
Ran 3 track days with 105-110 degree air temp. Really great traction and good progressive feel but serious edge wear and heat at 36 psi hot with temps over 185 after 3rd lap 5 mile course tryin to keep pace with ZL1. Definitely got greasy past 175-180 but still predictable. Third day ran with instructor and kept 39-41 psi hot and backed off to keep temp around 160s and much better shoulder wear. Probably have another track day or two max left…. Camber plates are needed asap. Happy with them so far… but side eying Nanking Cr-s the fast boys are running. But so easy and convenient getting 71rs from Costco… Have a set of winter square 19x9 sm10… but think they might be a touch too narrow for the Cr-s 265/30… or who cares and give it a go? |

71RS works best for me 32-33psi hot. -3.2/2.1 f/r camber, perfect wear.
The CR-S v2 looks interesting, but I’d likely only run it on hot summer days for HPDE as it’s slower to warm up and not as good in the wet as the 71RS. Looks like a great endurance racing tire, tho. |

thanks for this, very informative. Its too bad they bridgestones were not there.
Had good things to say about the AD09, not the fastest but seems like a good tire to drive to track, do the thing and drive back home. Also nice big speed change from the ps5s so I think whichever tire I pick I will probably be astonished lol |

I'd forgotten about the TR comparison of 200s which does make a good comparison of the RT660, AD09, and RE-71RS. Their notes on the RT660, RE-71RS, and RS-4 match pretty well with my own experiences running 275/35 square sets of those tires.
Sidenote: wasn't surprised to see the AR1s slow in the Tegiwa video, have had several buddies run those on various cars, expecting the hype to be real only be disappointed with both the outright pace and longevity. |

Just another data point — seems like 33-35 is a good zone edit: forgot to say I’m running 255/275 re71rs tires and i’m a huge fan for the price. Tirerack still has their Bridgestone rebates going so you can save another 100+ bucks |

Hope to see you out on Summit Main one day-- I'm going to CCC (8/31) and the TrackDaze Event 9/23-9/24). You input on camber setups is the reason I went with -3.2/-2.1 setup, so thank you! |

Happy to talk setup anytime. M2joey and GasBurnlife(landapanda) know their stuff, as well! I’m trying to decide bn CCC @ Summit, or events at NJMP or WGI for this month. Depends on some travel. Will see. |

Elganja come on out with us for the BMW NCC event or the PCA Potomac and we’d be happy share a few pointers. 21s are very doable with some decent rubber and loads of commitment.
My car is setup with the BW GTmore suspension, half cage and race seats, and got it into the 19s on some Michelin takeoff rubber. https://youtu.be/PdJ4ZcDQpkM Peter |

If you do end up going to CCC please let me know! I'll lookout for you-- my buddy is the head instructor for that event, so I always go to both of them (april/sept) along with FATT's and TrackDaze |

GasBurnlife(landapanda) even has a video on how to pack your car. It’s one of the great advantages of the M2 vs a Porsche. |
