There's also a stupid hole beneath the amp that goes to the fender well, and if you spray too much water in that area it'll pass through into the cabin. I plan to use hydro guard mesh for that area so it can still breath.

Yeah, as previously said. There is that vent next to the amp which you can see on this picture, and there is some dried water stains. Additionally I taped it on the bottom part. It can get wet even without tinting work, just from water getting behind the wheel fender.

So, it can get wet from washing the car? Driving though puddles?

If the water makes it past the fender liner yes, do huge puddle of high pressure water.

I'd sure like to know. It was one of the reasons I went for an LCI instead of a competition M2. My thinking was that the N55 is more mass produced and less high strung, meaning less problems. Time will tell if I'm right...

Less issues (almost non-existent) with things like the crank hub that's for sure.

2017 with about 20K km (stored in winter). Zero issues so far. N55 seems bulletproof, and sounds fantastic. Just the strange habit of wearing out rear tires fairly fast.

I did notice the hard shift from 1 to 2 when powering through a left turn. Miss the occasional shift that way. Thought it was just me.

Provided the touchscreen still works, old gits like me would argue that's an improvement...

My M2C only has 6k miles so all is well still, no surprise.
Hey! I thought about doing this! Do people treat the car with respect? Any major issues? Is it lucrative?

There's a reason why they say rental cars are the fastest cars in the world...

Some do and some don't, sort of just the nature of the beast. I wouldn't rent my personal car (M2C) as I am quite fickle about how it's treated.

Region and type of car determine if it's lucrative, LA is extremely competitive so it can be slim margins.

42,000 miles and 27 track days and not a single issue. Can't say that about my Cayman though.

So, from this tiny sample, and one other thread we have:

Key not working properly - 1
Valve tick - 2
1-2 shift resistance - 1
IDrive issues - 3
Steering rack notchy - 1
Charge pipe crack - 1

And the right rear turn signal error that should get fixed under warranty - a whole damn bunch
Amp issues from water - quite a few

Looks like the IDrive is the weak link.

Would you link the other thread please.

Is the valve tick fixed under warranty? Occasionally getting it myself, fairly light.

Add the Valvetronic actuator and shaft issue- 3 including myself in this thread.
Has anyone gotten this repaired under warranty if the dealer couldn't reproduce. Ive only seen it once or twice in a year of ownership.

Valve tick is the valvetronic tick, atleast it is in the context of this thread. I suffered it as well during the first day of ownership, and a couple times after that. But it has since disappeared completely. So hopefully it stays that way since my warranty is done this year, and it is a huge PITA to do this job.

Since you identified valve tick and valvetronic issues, i'm thinking the noise you're hearing for valve tick is actually the direct injectors which do make alot of noise (totally normal) or the hpfp.

It has to be reproducible or you have to have video evidence. BMW is making it really hard for people to get major warranty work these days, with dealers having to submit PUMAs and supply alot of diagnostics and proof. It took my dealer a day or two to get into contact with bmw in germany before they could replace my key.

Luckily I thought to record it. Warranty ends very soon, let the battle begin.

Oh dang you definitely have valvetronic issues.

Good luck, I hope you're able to get it warrantied.
