Getting car back from 2nd free service today and I had them look into rattles. Here is what they wrote back about finding rattles.
"Rattle from armrest: we have confirmed it and we just needed to add some insulation to keep the plastic pieces from rubbing on bumpy roads or applying pressure, once that was done noise is gone Rattle from passenger side door: confirmed it, applied washers to the Bowden cable in the door and now the noise is gone Rattle from dashboard/rattle from rear view mirror: these actually ended up only being one rattle (although my tech and foreman did say it sounded like two at first), we had to go in an insulate the FZD switch to keep it from rubbing and once we did that there was no more noise from either area. Rattle from drivers B-pillar: that actually was the Bowden cable in that door as well, we applied those washers and some insulation and the noise is gone" |

My interior rattles so much. It's kind of annoying to drive it. Once I took the car apart. I found some clips were broken. But now that is not the case. Replaced broken clips and still have rattles. I might have to take it in. Because it's obnoxious driving

This is a good thread. I'll add mine.
There is rattling/buzzing noise coming from the rear, somewhere along the roof. The car vibrates around 3000RPMs (MPE) and that's what triggers it. I'll take a look at the third brake light cover as someone mentioned but it sounds like it's coming from the roofliner light or inside of the roof (I have sunroof). |

Dang this is disheartening to read..for a BMW at that.
What mile are some of you guys at? Really bad bumpy roads where you live? I'll occasionally here the meth line slap underneath the rear seat but that's about it. 14.5k miles so far. |

I had to have a nasty rattle fixed two times now by the dealership. Was located around the front driver door loudspeaker. First time they put some foam in and replaced some loudspeaker trim, second time they put more felt tape around the same area, after the rattle had returned. Was much more audible when cold, suspect was a cable, hardening up in cold weather, causing the rattle. Gone now ... this time for good I hope!
Oh, and the door seals make noise in cold weather when the frame twists slightly on uneven surface, same as in my previous Mini Coopers. Comes and goes, seems as if humidity in combination with temperature causes that. Keeping the seals and windows clean and treated seems to eliminate it to a great degree. |

No rattles here on my early build '17 M2. I'm at 22,000 miles and I live in the land of crap roads (NY).

I have a metallic/clicking rattle that sounds as though it's coming from inside the rear drivers seat door panel area, perhaps up near the B/C pillar area. Almost sounds like a cable or wire hitting bare metal. Anyone had this issue? Doesn't sound to be coming from the rear deck seat belt flaps.

I tried the felt tape fix but the cover still rattled. I made a foam piece styled after your picture out of some camera case foam and it works perfectly. |

I've got so many rattles with only 12k miles it's amazing.
Currently waiting for everything to fall apart and taking it in. Anybody have experience with rattling from left rear seat? |

Does the rattle in the left rear seat sound like stones/plastic hitting bare metal?

It sounds like a fan hitting something as it's constant and sort of fast paced. It happens intermittently and after the car is at operating temperature. The shitty part is is that every time I take it to the dealer for issues like this I can't replicate it so they just send me home.
