Ya missed his post about Porsche. And from what I read, most people with 17s who turn it off, put it back on. It may be fake (and I think BMW is one of the few to do it) but it works well.

I think this type of car is a drivers car. I cant believe that anyone is using the radio when the cars natural "sound track" offers so much stimulating music.

You want a drivers car? What does that even mean to you? To me, and most people in my opinion, it means how well they perform. The M2 isn't up there when it comes to dollar for dollar performance. Get a ZL1 or a Vette. You buy your daughter a $54,000 BMW but won't get additional $1,400 package...uh huh

A few Fords and some BMWs are not "most". VW adds some shake to the front windshield and Porsche routes a tube into the car. You might argue VW is fake (but it certainly is not using the stereo) but Porsche is anything but fake. And we are still no where close to "most".
(You could however say "most" BMWs because it looks like they have been sneaking that into cars for a while now).

When managing your device settings under iDrive, you can choose CarPlay or the traditional iDrive interface.

Also, you can simply disable CarPlay on the iPhone. Settings > General > CarPlay.

Personally, I really like CarPlay.

That is a matter of opinion, of course. The fake sound does not correspond to what the engine is actually doing, as far as I can tell. And although I have certainly seen a few posts of people who turn it back on, I do not have the confidence you have that "most" people who turn it off turn it back on.

I'm not going to do so, at least. Pretty sure I'm not alone, too...The stock sound is really a good job by BMW; it doesn't need fake enhancement, especially when real enhancement is easily available.

The BMW IDrive user interface is excellent and if your someone who is very familiar with it your likely to prefer it to CarPlay. That is my situation. I have friends who are not familiar with the IDrive interface and therefore love CarPlay. To me its well worth the 300 bucks if for no other reason than resale. Many cars are coming with CarPlay and it is likely to be the standard in future years as automakers decide to spend less time trying to develop a unique user interface and instead rely on Apple and Google to do that for them.

Everyone on this forum? The 5-10 people that don't like it, yes they are since they don't know how to use it properly.

So answer mine, engineers who work with marketing. Are they stupid to implement something that has no value? Or are the 5-10 people on this forum right on it adds no value but it's being adopted by almost every automaker.
