When shifting it has a smoother feel to it. Only thing is you do not get lighting function. I disconnected the wire and electrical taped it to the side. E brake sleeve is next!
I know the first step to the process but how were you able to pull the shift knob out? I've tried pulling for 10 mins and it won't even budge a little. Is there a certain technique to it?

Thanks!

Also went this way. The stitching matches perfectly with my full SS interior.

I did the IND 6MT shifter/knob and E-brake today. The E-brake was easy the shifter/knob took some time and I still called IND because I was having a hard time getting the shifter/knob off. IND rep and Mike S is right it does take some force to pull it off. By the way I still hit myself in the face and this is after I was told by IND to be careful not to do so. It is worth it, its a good look.

Looks great, where did you buy from , IND?

Secondly isnt it the same shift knob sold by BMW as performance part, why is it so expensive from IND, is it diffferent than OEM?

M Perf. knob comes with white stitching on the boot, compared to IND, they match the tri stitching to the M Perf. e-brake boot

The main difference is the feel of the knob as it is less beefy. It took some time to get used to the new feel but it helps when shifting fast

Also is very aesthetically pleasing

Does it fit fine and shift fine.

Therefore the Amazon and IND are same shifter with different stitched shift boots, is that correct?

Im going to go out on a limb here as it seems I may be the only one. The knob although it looks nice it seem like it sits a little too low. Kinda rice-ish as it seems to have no function being this low. I would also think your hand would hit the iDrive control when you shift. When sitting in a race car the knob is always close to the steering wheel to reduce the amount of time it takes for your hand to come off the wheel onto the shift knob to make a proper shift up or down. This knob is going against conventional wisdom. I personally think the stock knob feels great (I have big hands) but I do think the throws could be a little shorter but not at the expense of notchiness.

Thats exactly what i want short and tight shifting... the shorter the height the better it is

If you buy from amazon do you get warranty as opposed to buying from BMW dealer which comes with warranty?

What warranty? It's a shift boot and knob, there's nothing to warranty on this part.

And to answer your previous question, yes, this is the same knob and boot that IND sells. IND redos the stitching with the ///M tricolor where the one you buy on Amazon has thread that matches the SS leather.

PS: I have the amazon one (BMW Performance) and it looks great.

Fairly certain. That looks 90% like the M performance one.

Great quality. I'm having great experience with these.
iND 6MT Shift Knob + E-brake boot set.
IMHO, Tri stitch from iND is worth it if you want something to match your M steering wheel stitch. If you have Silverstone or a similar tone, then the normal M performance might be for you.

This exactly. Tri color stick ting looks out of place on the boot alone.

Can the boots be ordered seperately? I'm just interested in the alcantara shift & ebrake boots without that shift knob. I like the factory M one. Thx.
