Rear Differential Oil Leak

I've just had my car in for it's major service at 4 years old (30k miles) and the health check has brought a leaking o/s diff seal leak to my attention. This is a bit of a kick in the nuts as I've just bought the car outright, the insurance is due etc etc, but it is what it is.

Have looked and it's a £70 part for me to buy myself, but assume labour is high as guessing it would mean, drive shaft removal, seal replacement and then having alignment re-done. I've been quoted £550 to have it repaired, so was just wondering whether anybody else had had this work done in the UK and how much it cost them? Cheers.

Had the same thing at my service, think it cost £400 and something to get done, that was back in September last year though.

Shouldn't need aligning, they just mark the eccentric adjuster positions.

Don't go to bmw. Good indy much better.

Thanks for the heads up, haven't had it done yet as barely using the car much at the moment (new job's 5 mins down the road) and it's not leaking in any quantifiable amount after monitoring it, just stained the casing really.

Been recommended a decent local independent, so probably going to go down that route in the next few weeks. So will report back on price and experience.
