Intro new '18 M2 LCI owner
Hi all! I've been lurking around this forum and posting sporadically over the past couple years as I've searched for my perfect M2. I finally sealed the deal this weekend on one I'd found via CarMax just before Christmas. It took couple years to find the perfect spec for this dream car of mine:
So now I'm prepping my beloved 2010 WRX 5MT hatchback for sale. It'll be going up for auction on carsandbids.com very soon. I've driven the WRX for the past 12 years and loved nearly every moment of it. And now I'm looking toward a bright future with the new-to-me M2. Without further ado, see couple intro photos below one of me picking up the car at CarMax and another with a beautiful CA sunset in the background. I'm looking forward to interacting more with this great community in the years to come! |

Congrats! If it means anything, my 2017 M2 is my 13th BMW in our family since 2001. They're quite addicting to own and drive.
Enjoy every minute of driving her. Next up is find a local indy mechanic who will care for your car when you want to service her. Unless of course you're a DIYer. |

Lovely choice.
I'm about to prep my 2000 WRX GC8 for sale. A one owner 22 year old car. This is going to be very hard to let go but I just don't drive it enough. |

Yeah, that's a good point. I have a couple ideas on local mechanics in my area I'm in the San Francisco East Bay/Tri-Valley area and will have to look into them more. I'd guess they'd charge much more reasonable rates than the local BMW dealership service department. |

selling the WRX
Quote:
But I don't have the garage space to keep it. And the reality is that, now that I've purchased the M2, I just wouldn't drive the WRX that much. I don't drive much overall even as it is. So, as much as I'll miss it, it'll be best to send the WRX along to a 2nd owner who can enjoy it as much as I have. That's how I console myself, anyway. ;-) |

plans for mods
Quote:
My plans are very humble and mostly aesthetically leaning for now. I'd like to swap in the all-black grille and maybe the floating hub caps. And the PPF on the front bumper is somewhat damaged. So I'll probably have it pulled off and a new PPF wrap put on the bumper. Small stuff. I've read about folks putting in stouter charge pipes; I don't know much about what that means yet, so I've more reading to do there. And I've seen some mentions of swapping out the steel engine bay strut tower braces for carbon fiber ones like in the M2 Comp. I'm open to that if it makes a significant difference/improvement. I think I may try some coding with Bimmercode or similar. I'm not yet sure how I feel about the ASD, for instance. So I may want to try coding that out and see how that changes the experience. This is the most car I've ever had: for now it's plenty powerful. So right now I don't feel the need to add any engine performance mods. |
