So, I'm really enjoying the grip/ride of MPS4S 255/35/19 F and 275/35/10 R. However, I have a very transient faint rub at low speeds only while reversing to the drivers side on full lock.

Stock suspension, no spacers.

Anything to be concerned about? Otherwise the tires are fantastic.

So as above, with front 255/35/19 MPS4S I was experiencing transient rubbing on 7/10 full lock while reversing to the passenger side left. Turns out the tire was barely rubbing on the "fins" on the front liner on the driver side. I could have filed the liner with a dremel but the space was so tight I had 245/35-19 MPS4S fitted. There was no danger of damage to the tires or the liner, but I didn't want to deal with the noise.

Your results may vary (and certainly this may not apply to other brands of tires) but I wish I had heard of this possibility. Fortunately, Discount Tire replaced the tires at no cost.

The thread started with OG M2s. There are no problems with that model. The M2C does have a front liner that is different and rubbing on that model is possible. I know that this has been discussed before.

Yup, easy fix for it as well. I say if you're not willing to deal with a bit of rub here and there, then stay stock.

Another option is to heat and push in the inner liner to "remold"- worked for me with drop+10mm spacers+ 245 width stock tires, so should be ok with stock height+no spacers+ 255 width.

Perhaps and lession learned. That said, I am very happy with the rear PS4S 275/35/19s. The grip is fantastic, and I prefer a more straight sidewall rather than the stretched appearance with stock 265/35/19s. Somewhat ironically, I have the same size staggered tires (albeit on 18 inch wheels) on both my E39 M5 and E86 Z4M coupe.

Anyone find that at cold 35 psi 255/275 is actually really progressive at low speed grip limits for Ps4S?

Ride is excellent but I am thinking of using 34psi day to day as I remember when I had them slightly under (32-33psi) grip was phenomenal.

At stock 35psi levels they are fun and very slightly skaty under power (stg 2) a bit like mpss of yesteryear.

The normal ones is what I got. The 275* was developed as a front wheel for G series Ms.

Yeah, looking at the specs the BMW star 255 is 3 lbs heavier than the same sized normal PS4S and the star 275 has a 0.7" narrower tread width than the normal 265s (9.6" vs 8.9").

The star spec 255 also has the Limited Edition Blackwall Premium Touch sidewall (at least from TireRack). Even Michelin states it will look "weird" mixing that sidewall with a normal one (no performance difference however).

The car is lowered with the M-perf (KW) coil overs and that’s it. Planning on using the stock 763s with the 255/275 combo with Cup 2s (and stock sizing on the 788s). No spacers. Should that work? Thanks!!!

Cup 2s are not a street tire. They suck in the rain and pick up all types of junk. Also they have a very small tread life. Much better off with PS4Ss.

Seconded.

I've had 255/275 MP4S's on a set of Apex wheels for street and 255/275 Cup2 Connect on a second set of Apex wheels for track.

I LOVE the MP4S's. Plenty of performance for on the street, much better ride than the Cups, and they wear well. They are my go-to street tire.

The Cup2's? Were fun on the track, but wore VERY quickly and tended to get greasy at the end of a session. And when they go? They GO-- as in "Why am I suddenly wearing street shoes on an ice skating rink?"

They're also noisy as hell-- you will hear EVERY SINGLE rock you drive over as it hits the fender shrouds and underbody. The sidewalls are very stiff-- which makes them sort of unfun on the street. And rain? You're going to die.

Bottom line: I'll keep getting the MP4S's for the street. I'm looking at other tires for the track (maybe Falken RT660's or or Nankang CR-S's, although I'd have to go down to stock 245/275 to make them fit the car).

Yes. It'll work (although I wouldn't run Cup2's for the street unless you like a miserable ride, never EVER drive in rain, and like to replace tires frequently).

I have a M2C w/ the same M-P suspension, 1/2" wider Apex wheels and 255/275 MP4S's and Cup2's.

No fitment issues or rubbing at all and no spacers required.
