In case your wondering what CS really stands for...
https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/11/24/h...csl-stand-for/
I posted this in the F80 forum but with all the hype surrounding the M2 CS thought I would post here too. For those of you hoping for an M2 CSL it seems highly unlikely. |

At the time some UK dealers had new cars in stock for a year and offered discounts of around 25% off to shift stock. Looking back, if you compare the differences between a regular E46 M3 and the CSL, a lot of effort went into development of the CSL. There's a video knocking around where an engineer that worked on the development describes the detail they went into to shed weight. With the information out there, the M2 CS seems like a poor effort from BMW and a total money-grab. They could of at least put some half decent seats in. Even a Golf Clubsport S has better seats. |

Who wants to spend $110 for an M3 that has marginal "improvements" over one that's nearly half as costly? Ditto M2.

To me the CS stands for = Chubby Sadness
Especially since BMW is charging a big premium on the M2 CS why did they not put in a lithium ion battery in from the M4/M3? This sheds 30 lbs alone and is readily available. BMW wants to charge $8,000-10,000 for a CCB option that sheds about 30 lbs when they can simply put a Lithium Ion battery in the M2 CS and shed the same weight with a simple low cost battery change?

Agree on the battery.
But on the positive side, this means an owner can very cheaply shed a lot of weight by changing the battery afterwards. |

Supposedly you have to disconnect the IBS to make the lithium battery work on the M2c. Not that straight forward. That is why I'm bummed BMW did not put a lithium battery in the M2c or CS since the F8x M4 has it.

Sorry it wasn't a video like I mentioned earlier but have a read of this. This is what they should have done to the M2:

The only thing that will save a bit the M2cs from the same fate is the M/T.

They are a tough sell, especially with the new M3 about a year away. Definitely takes a special buyer. |

'IBS' or BMW Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) is a mechanical/electronic device which is connected directly to the negative battery terminal.
The IBS contains a micro-processor that is used to monitor/measure various battery conditions. If you open up your truck and look at the battery you can see a wire that is attached to the battery, thats the IBS.

"Hi, I'm calling about the M3CS for sale, listed for 88K." "US?" "No, Canadian." "Yeah, no that should be one eighty-eight. It's a typo." "You should fix that ad." "We will, I promise. When would you like to come see it?" "It's the wrong price." "I can make you a deal." "You're not even close." "Come on in, let's talk." "It's a 2018. It's too expensive." "Do you have a trade?"
