Wonderful shots, great story, and seems like an amazing experience. Going out for a drive tomorrow here in the SF Bay Area. Hopefully all the excitement but not the ticket!

When it came time to buy again I was all set for M4 or the M2. I went off label however and bought a 2018 GT 350. I must say Ford got everything right on this car. The steering, brakes, magnetic dampers, transmission and the amazing engine and sound at 8250 rpm! Feels way lighter than it is. Not to mention the looks, still gets noticed everywhere I go, partly because they are quite rare. Every bit as fun and capable as any M car I have driven with a sound in sport mode that is unmatched!! Sure not as luxurious inside, but in my opinion, for 60k the sports car bargain of the century! And make no mistake, this is a sports car, not a muscle car.

Agree with these comments, because I am biased My Shelby GT350R broke my double digit streak of German car ownership, but I love everything about it! Nice change of pace from the 1M or other toys. Poor man’s GT3 with a tremendous V8 soundtrack...

How did the 911 do? Unless I missed it idk if you wrote anything about it. Kinda just curious on how it is. Looks like a 996 Carrera?

I guess not so good.. Lol

He was the one wise and lawful driver in the group. He'd bought the car pretty recently and was being quite cautious.

Or...3 nice cars and a targa! Jk, but I do have a real soft spot for the targas, even if the 996 is my least favorite one. Great write up and drive, sorry about the citation!

bwhip,

Sounds like you guys had a great time--and what a great opportunity to compare four excellent cars.

All that would have been super enough, but when you add in the extraordinary scenery it just gets even better!

Thanks for posting about your adventure.

What we enthusiasts live for! I was thinking of taking a trip down to Montana and Idaho for camping next summer but the roads might be too good to pass up on.

Grew up in a Ford family and was introduced to BMW by my best friends E46 M3. Nice to see your to favorite brands leading the obtainable drivers vehicle game.

Pic attcahed is my Dad's GT350R we waited 2 years for. Blue Orchid with the White Stripes. Special in a monstrous way; a lot more on edge. The M2 is a shot of espresso, and the GT350R is an extra large blonde roast (black of course)

Didn't get any videos on this trip. Always worried that they could be used as evidence.
