Thanks for all the comments, really enjoying the car. I just dropped it off for service a few people wanted to take a look, fairly certain there aren’t any in Colorado yet. (Other than mine)

Nice pick up!
Let me know if you have any questions about the idrive etc. I came from the Japanese car world (used to have a gpw Ap2) and I know what you mean as far as weight etc.

I can completely relate. 06 Laguna Blue S2000, cusco this and that, hondata tuned xcross, and now garage queen. I traded in my 2011 STi for my 17 M2. It is amazing the differences in driving characteristics. Was initially overwhelmed with the iDrive at first. Once I got the phone integrated with carplay, I really only use maybe 2 buttons. The rest of the features are nice to haves but used less frequent.

Congrats OP - glad to hear you're enjoying the car - looks awesome.
Although I'm in an F80 - I've been daily driving my car with an S55 and the M DCT since 2014 (and about 70,000 miles) and I have to say - best engine I've had in a car and the DCT is amazing. One bit of advice - as I'm sure others have said - the M DCT is more fun (in many peoples' opinions and mine) when you drive it in manual mode. D1 is definitely optimized for fuel economy, and D2 and D3 hang on too long to the revs when you're not driving fast. With S2 or S3, you can shift when you want to, whether for "lazy" driving around the city, or maxing out the horsepower when driving fast. I use the paddle shifters in S2 and S3 (only use auto mode if on phone and can't pay attention to when to shift). You should definitely take it to the track and autocross - you'll have a whole new appreciation for M cars that you cannot get from even the most spirited street driving (you're welcome)! Enjoy! |

The main thing that challenges me with keeping cars I love is space to keep them if a new car came along. Sure many or most of us face the same challenge. If I could only buy a farm so I could just let them all run free... |

Congratulations! It's always a joyful thing to hear when an enthusiast takes ownership of a great fun to drive sports car and really put it in good use that serves the purpose of why it's made for.

Same but older here. I have an 1967 S800 in the garage as my manual fix. Down quite a few HP but the sound at 8500RPM more than makes up for it. I settled on my 2017 MG DSG knowing that a Japanese turbo straight six just wasn't coming along anytime soon and the R32 Godzilla I had 20 years ago always made me want another. Now the kids don't need a lift any more hello M2.
Love the crackle of the N55, good to hear the S55 is the same |
