Question regarding TPMS

My son just got a new M2. He's coming from an M235. His M235 didn't have TPMS. I'm looking to put his winter setup on the new M2. Does the M2 require TPMS?

In Canada, it's not required to have TPMS. Few of my cars I believe came with it from factory but that's not the norm and your not required to.

If you have the sensors in the wheels you should be able to code the car to work. With them.

I never had sensors in any of the cars we have - 2016 X5 Msport, 2016 M235 and 2017 230. So I'm wonder if the M2 is different? I have a 2019 X5 coming so I'm wondering if they did something different on that.

It's the 2018 M2. Did they have them?

I have both. 2018 F87 does not have the sensors. 2019 G05 does have them. You can get an extra set of TPMS (winters) for the G05 for about CAD $250. G05 can set up multiple sets of tires in the car menu (i.e. summer v. winter) for different wheel/tire size combos.

Excellent. Are you saying a set of 4 is $250?

You must be in the US. I remember getting some for brother's new M550 and I think it was twice that in Canada.

Nope. Canada. Did not get these from BMW directly as they are a rip off. i.e. they wanted $5k for winter wheels and tires...that was PRIOR to mount, balance, install, sensors AND taxes. Aftermarket, all in was $2,900...granted the wheels probably aren't as good quality (looks wise better), but the tires are better than the ones from BMW package.

Trust me I hear ya. I did my wife's F15 X5 staggered 20" RFT for $3,400 (Tires, Rims, Center Caps, Storage, install, balance and tax). Could never do that at BMW.

Thanks. I think the world of him.

He's loving his new ride. Steve at Budds is making a few suggestions. We'll see. I'm sure after he gets it looking right he'll move towards increased performance. I've only been in it once for 5 mins. I think on Friday I steal his ride!

Yea I'd say wait for the spring and see if mods r needed. On the 235 what did he have? If that wasn't modded this is quite the step up in itself

We order the M235 loaded and we put on the Dinan CAI and the plug and play chip. That was about it. The CAI is going on the M2 and we'll see about a chip...I had two (X5 and M235) and sold them both.

I'm going to try and take his car this morning.
