Normal tire wear?

Just checking... is this cracking on the center of my tread in the front tires normal after 2000 miles of fun ?

Looks like you may have over inflated your tires. That would cause that type of wear under heavy driving.

Thank you DanG. The car is new and I've never actually added any air.

Is it cosmetic or is this damage?

What pressure range is recommended for spirited driving to avoid this?

In the center I would treat it as cosmetic damage. Recommended pressure is 35 psi all around. You can see you tire pressure in the idrive menu under vehicle status.

Checked the tire pressure tonight while on a road trip at highway speeds. Found 37-39 psi pressures. Clearly this confirms the overpressure that was suspected?

I'll check it cool and take a few psi out.

If you were on the highway and tires were warmed up that pressure reading doesn't sound abnormal.

But yea check cold tire pressure with an accurate handheld gauge

I use Longacre branded gauges but really any gauge from an autozone should be accurate enough to tell if you're within spec

Looks like they saw some heat and may have a little too much air. If you look at the sidewalls, you can see how far the tire rolled over from hard cornering.
My Cup 2's looked similar after a track day.

Over inflation would cause less tire roll? Looking at the OPs upper sidewalls and outer tread I would say they are under inflated? That is some pretty aggressive tire roll IMHO.

Yeah, that is some serious roll over skid marks on the sidewalk. I've had my car in full drift with no such roll over skid marks.

Couple of pics of mine. Pss after track day three 20 minutes sessions. And my brand new Re71r’s after autocross day of 6 runs at 55ish seconds each.

This is what I use and I'm very happy with it - https://www.amazon.com/Joes-Racing-3...dp/B00404WDUC/

Most gauges will be 0-100PSI so this 0-60 gives you more precision.
