DCT starting in 2nd gear

Any downsides to starting in 2nd gear from a stop?

The reason I'm asking is because 1st gear is so brutal and jerky sometimes that starting in 2nd gear is much smoother and probably better on gas mileage when you don't need to take off quickly. The DCT obviously allows this but I'm just wondering if it's harder on the clutches if you do so.

I normally do if it's snowing outside. The lower torque (to the wheels) helps in taking off from a stop more smoothly.

I just remember that my 335i automatic always started in 2nd gear in auto mode.

Though the M2 DCT always starts in 1st gear in auto mode..

Will keep an eye on this thread..

I always start in first, but shift to second as soon as I can.

I prefer shifting manually vs using launch control.

The M2 is much easier to launch vs M4.

What drive logic settings are your using? Is your car tuned? This doesn't sound right.

my car used to start in second in comfort auto mode, but when the charge pipe broke, the car now starts in first in comfort mode both during and after the replacement.
the car has felt strange and stupid ever since. Is there a way to get the throttle map to get it reset to default at the factory?

also if I were to change to aftermarket charge pipes, should I install it after I get the throttle reset from the dealer or after I get it installed ? I m afraid that if I install aftermarket ones they will say that it was the aftermarket charge pipes fault for the throttle issue
