During the takata airbag recall, I had to wait over 6 months for my D/S X5 airbag and another couple of months for my P/S airbag and that recall noticed was pretty serious...

What can happen as a result of this issue?
In a crash where the air bag deploys, the air bag inflator housing may rupture and could cause metal fragments to pass through the air bag cushion material, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants.

Not sure why they are putting a stop on deliveries?

What I've been told too.

I guess it is what it is, but this stinks. My car is in Galveston, TX at the port, was to ship to dealer 5/9 with delivery to me 5/13.

I normally couldn't care less except for the fact that I have less than 2-4 months to drive due to health (I have ALS). Of all the people that would be willing to sign a disclaimer, it would be me! A faulty knee airbag isn't going to kill me! Ha

This isn't a Takata airbag issue, they've been out of business for a while now

Well at least you're not alone. My car is at the Galveston port as well just sitting. I was supposed to get it 5/3 so now just waiting to see how this all pans out. This part sucks worse than the slow shipment to the states, at least with that I was expecting it to be slow...

+1 my car is at the Southern California VPC now just sitting around waiting for this issue to be resolved. It's been 9 months since I ordered it, was supposed to have it this week.

9 months? I had a week 33 build, and it's only been 9 months since production of my car started. Your dealer must not have had an allocation.

I'm sorry to hear this, I really hope it works out for you.

If possible I would ditch the M2c and pick up a Mustang performance pack 1 or camaro zl1 (which I would assume are readily available) and drive the snot out of it while you can.

And thank you for putting everything into perspective while I sit here sulking over my car being delayed; how insignificant and unimportant it really is.

Best of luck to you.

My bad. What I meant is, 9 months ago (August 2018) I made a deposit to be placed on the waiting list for an allocation. The allocation came in February 2019 and the car hit the US Port on April 24th... I had some port installed options and the car was supposed to be at my dealer sometime this week.

It's been a 9 month process for me that's why I said 9 months. Sorry for the confusion lol

I’m in Munich for an ED on an m2 comp today and have been emailed that the car won’t be ready and that they will be providing a rental in lieu of that.

I will let you know what I hear.

Jeez
Tell them they need to fly you back out to pick up the car when the recall is done!

I am in the same boat (so to say!). Delivery scheduled at performance center for 05/17, with my brother flying over from France to join me. Despite the fact that I had already done an ED, the car is indeed stuck until further notice. Will eagerly wait for the BMW NA call on Thursday!!

So I was able to go through the “meeting my car” process and even got to start it up on the rotating pad. But yes, they are not releasing them into the wild currently. They were originally going to give us a 7-series(wow!) to continue our trip with but I asked whether something a little smaller would be doable. They found us an M140i fastback instead. It’s possible that a fix will be identified soon but there is no ETA for resolution yet so I am not holding my breath. Throughout they have been both extremely professional and apologetic.

I sure hope this gets resolved soon. My ED is on 6/6 and I sure don't wanna be driving a car other than mine.

Fields BMW Northfield IL

Issues include:
Wrong options sent, was fixed
PCD not scheduled until the day the car was on the boat, almost missed being able to do PCD
Not scheduling my pickup until weeks after they got the notification it needed to be scheduled, pushing my delivery back (now into this recall, shouldve had it by now)
Financing was the real mess. New grad program promised for 19, but then not allowed on 20. Still went with BMW after they promised me a great rate. However they still took my loan and shopped it around and came back with laughable rates since I have never financed anything before besides my student loans, ended up going with a local bank outside of BMW.

That's the entire reason for the new grad program....but I digress.

Now we're here, after all of this and I won't even be able to pick it up.
Same shit different city

at-least someone from your bmw store didn't joyride your car putting rock chips on the front bumper and roadrash...
