You claim that they "fold faster" as oppose to the stock M2 mirror. Do you happen to have a video or link of them folding in progress?

I've been digging up some videos of them folding and I don't notice discernible difference in speed between the two.

Trying to convince myself they're worth it..

Thanx in advance.

That looks quicker to me, at least compared to my car. It also doesn't look like they fold as much, like they're going a shorter distance (as Andrew mentioned). It could be the angle I'm viewing it.

I agree with Andrew, go for it! Mine are due to arrive Wednesday. My only concern now is, who is going to paint the caps. I may just go to my dealers body shop/ collision center.
They both fold at the same speed. I wouldn't be surprise if it's the same internal motor and actuator for both.

Andrew was on the money, the distance of travel for the F82 mirror is just shorter, hence the perception that it's "faster."

The crown jewel of the F82 side mirror is the cool LED turn signal strips, other than that, the difference is merely cosmetic and not really form-function IMO.

Any rebuttals are welcome..

Yeah, that LED turn signal strip looks nice. That's something that can't be easily replicated.

It certainly isn't. It's all one piece.

I finally got mine and they looks awesome. Can't wait to get my caps back painted, so I can install them. I have to give it to AutoID, they did a good job. When I compare these to them, it's pretty close. The OEM mirrors are just more sleeker and, of course the LED turn signal is integrated & laser etched, as you guys have said.

Installed my M mirrors. They're definitely worth it. I have the Euro wide-angle glass on the way.

One thing about the M mirrors is, they definitely don't fold as far as the regular ones. I tested it out after I installed one side, and compared them. It's not a big deal, because it's only a few inches difference and still serves the purpose, while looking cool, finishing the fold cycle fast. I coded them to fold/unfold when I lock/unlock the car, like shown in the video Poochie posted.

I guess they had their reasons, but it's strange that BMW didn't include these mirrors from the beginning on the M2, since they just bolt up, and are plug & play.

Did you have to re-code the folding after install? I would assume not since it's all plug and play. That is if you had already coded folding on the og mirrors

I didn't code until after I installed the new mirrors. However, I do believe your assumption is correct. Had they been coded before, I think it would still function the same with no re-coding needed.

Way to go, I'm stoked to hear you do not have to remove the door paneling to install the mirrors. I updated my original post so others can avoid what I had to go through.

A slightly better picture of the mirrors installed on my M2. Not the greatest picture as it's on my stupid hill of a driveway, and it was raining.

Quick question for the guys that have done this install. Is there a way to differentiate the two connectors going into the back of the mirror glass? I'd rather get everything plugged in correctly the first time so I don't have to tear this all apart later. It's the two black plugs in the picture below. Thanks in advance!

Have done a glass/mirror swap about 3 times now; twice in my M2 and once in my 328. The two rubber looking connectors are for the heated mirrors. It makes no difference which one goes where, they're identical (non-polarity specific) and do not have to be connected in any particular orientation.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to detail the process of this DIY. Just finished installing mine and couldn't be happier.

Thanks to the guys on here for providing the info on these got mine fitted over the weekend. So much nicer going the OEM route!

Just a few points to add, easily done without out removing the door card, just removed the tweeter cover and pried the door car using plastic trim tools. This was enough to guide the tweeter out and access the 3 mirror bolts.

Also I did require a bit of coding for proper functionality, now maybe it's cause mine a UK car? But I noticed the driver mirror was dimming excessively at night to the point that it was hard to see anything at all, so reduce the werte from 20 to 5 this worked perfectly. Then the passenger mirror when tilting in reverse it was going too far, so reduced tilt angle from 70% to 50% this did the trick.

Overall though really impressed, feel like they complete the exterior and should of always been on the car.

The reasons were that this was supposed to be the Redheaded step child until it accidentally became one of the greatest M cars next to the 1M and e30

Does anyone have the PN of the big self tapping bolts to secure the housing?
