I've seen reviews that say the AA mid-pipe is a PIA to fit as it doesn't line up very well. Anyone here have an M3/4 with AA mid-pipe; if so how smooth was the install process?

I don't have it but I would say it depends on the installer. I know a couple local shops here that have done it several times on M3/M4s and haven't heard any complaints from the owners. On the other hand, I heard some issues from people who either tried to install it themselves or take it to a shop that never installed AA midpipe before. Main complaints are usually about improper install resulting rattling or some other annoying noise (if you look at the threads under F80 subforum some of them are due to the gap between the pipe and the brace underneath).

I had it on my M3. If I recall the shop had a hard time getting it to line up with ER downpipes. I later changed to downpipes with a flex pipe like stock and it lined up fine. I had rattling with the ER pipes.

The rear section back then was a messy erector set to put together but it looks like they have fixed that.

Just like the previous chromed grills had an aftersale black option, I hope the current all black stock look have an aftersale chrome option. I really don't get the whole blackout look--trim, wheels, etc. Especially with metallic colors I think the chrome (or even stainless) look is much classier.

Agreed - the chrome looks better on the LBB in my opinion....

The blacked out look is nice when it creates a contrast - I think the CF and black bits will look awesome with HS or AW.

The wide angle view recording distorted the captured images. From front on the nose is stretched and thus exaggerated and the sides are compressed so the whole thing looks out of proportion.

In real it looks more aggressive than before

You don't think black contrasts with metallic blue?

The blacked out look is so much sportier and aggressive looking. I think if you're going for a classy look this is the wrong car in general.

Sure, there is a contrast - but not as noticeable if that makes sense. The difference seems to pop to my eyes when the base color is lighter and you have black or CF bits around it.

Just my opinion though.

To each his own. Nothing wrong with being classy, though. You don't have to be aggressive just because you buy a sports car. It's the underpinnings that make it a sports car, not the look.

I'd also like for my own personal car to be a little bit different than everyone else's. In a sea of black trim and black wheels I think a little chrome on the grille and some nice silver (but not chrome!) BBS LM's will be just the ticket!

I saw this car today in person. I'll try to get back and take some pics if it's still there on the weekend (was in a rush). It looks good in LBB, wheels looked ok but were so dirty I couldn't tell if they were the silver or black. There were regular M2s parked nearby and the new black grill is much more aggressive and looked nice. I'd probably order LBB over HS at this point but it's close.
