I know this topic has been thrown out there, but I have a few other point I would like clarification on...looking for constructive opinions here...so here goes:
First, let me say that I am very happy with my 2018 M2 with the exception of one thing and that is the 3K drone. It's bad. Real bad. Driving on the highway at cruising speed is all but impossible due to the drone. This is my own fault as I have modified the car with MPE and FS Sportcat - this combo really amplifies the cars exhaust note, but also amplifies the drone- and yes, I have already coded out ASD...so let's not go down that road. I was not looking to make the switch to the M2C, not because I didn't think the M2C was going to be an arguably "better" car than the LCI M2 - let's face it, for only a few thousand more MSRP, you are getting quite an upgrade - engine, seats, mirrors, CF brace. The car is a great deal here in Canada. Priced at CAD $72K - this is cheaper than the US MSRP price of $59K by almost USD $4K if you convert at current FX rate. I just wasn't looking to make the change...then I got this email from my SA: Morning XXX, Just wondering, if its possible to get you a production spot for the M2C, say August, September, October, would you be interested in getting one? Also, would a M4CS or M5C be of interest to you? Thanks, BMW SA I went into the dealership yesterday to speak to my SA and he confirmed that the dealership has one early allocation that they are holding to offer to an existing customer over the people they have on the list already - I'm not opening this up the whether I agree to this being "right or wrong", but these are the facts as they stand. For my current M2, these are the aftermarket parts that are installed, and thus need to be uninstalled: Can't transfer from LCI to M2C: - Wagner FMIC - FTP Charge/Boost pipes - Pure Turbo Inlet - Vorsteiner Front splitter - Eventuri custom painted CF Engine cover - Eventuri CF Intake - Parking sensor toggle switch - MPE - Fabspeed Sportcat DP - OEM black grill surrounds - IND Red Start Stop Button (M2C already has stock) - BM3 93 Oct Stg 2 Tune for N55 Can transfer from LCI to M2C - IND LBB Side Markers - IND LBB Front Reflector delete - IND LBB Rear Reflector delete - IND M Perf Dry CF Steering Wheel insert w/custom painted LBB Trim - IND M Perf Dry CF Shifter/Alcantara boot - IND M Perf Dry CF EBrake/Alcantara boot - OEM CF Side Winglets - AWRON Vent guage w/o exhaust flap control - 19" Vorsteiner VVF- 107s in Matte Carbon w/ MP4S in 255/275 - BimmerCode Coding Not 100% sure if I can transfer (anyone know/confirm if these parts will transfer over) - Ohlins R&T Coilovers - M2 specific version - M Perf CF Rear Difusor - M Perf CF Rear Deck Spoiler I figure it is about $3K to have the car set back to stock as I can't do all the work myself. Also would cost about $5K additional over MSRP (loss on trade in of LCI) I figure I can sell all the M2 specific parts above to cover off most of the transfer costs. Those who have hung in there and read this whole post I appreciate it as I am really on the fence here and just looking to get some of your thoughts...so let 'em rip. thx. |

tldr: itll be expensive, but of your going to modify it, the m2c should have more modding potential than an m2 n55. |

If the only thing you don’t like is drone. Sell your MPE. Get an exhaust with a resonator for the 3k range. Even the stock exhaust has a resonator (you can get a stock exhaust for cheap). Most people don’t mind the drone, but some don’t like it, if you don’t like it, change it. MPE is easy to sell (people love them) the only drawback is 3k drone (it is subjective, but some don’t like it at 3k) otherwise they sound amazing.

Eh I wouldnt do it. If you truly have that much disposable income get a better car than the M2C or the M2.

To the OP, you're in a good position, because your current M2 seems to be dialed in really nicely. So I would keep what you have and wait to hear what the reviews (or even better, a personal test drive) of the M2C look like. That way you can make a better informed decision. You might also consider trying to drive/ride in an M3/4 with the MPE to see if the S55 drone is similar to the N55 - just an idea.

It's not an easy decision but you need to figure if moving to the M2C is worth it for you specifically. My car was not stock, but it definitely did not have the amount of work you have into yours. My trade numbers were solid since my M2 was bought at MSRP, I paid taxes on spot and financed at 0.9%. When we ran the numbers it was a solid deal so I did not hesitate in going for it. I left all mods on it since it would have taken at least a day of labor to probably get 2k-3k more off parts on a market that is saturated with about 20 part out threads. If you have the time and patience to deal with selling parts and shipping etc go for it. If the numbers on my end would have NOT worked, I would have gone with bigger turbo, a tune and upgraded pads for track and kept the car until payoff. For me it worked because I clocked 16k miles, enjoyed the car since Sept 2016 so I was ready to move on to the next one.

My two cents (which are worth significantly less than that at current street value) is keep your 18.
You've invested a lot in it and in a few years the M2 will have a S58. Not worth it to make the switch, as you already have a badass, highly capable car. Enjoy it. My only caveat is that all this is irrelevant IF you track a lot. If you want a regular track car, make the switch. It'll be worth it. If not, you have all the car you'd ever need for the street until a better option comes along.

The problem is the down pipe. Get rid of that and get rid of ASD and you will have no drone. My M2 with MPE has zero drone.

I will say go for it!
You can’t be tempted into something that you don’t really want so it’s obvious that you want the M2C. The drone is just a ‘nice excuse’ as afterall there are solutions to the drone problem that would require less of your time and effort than swapping and selling parts. |

Does anyone else have FOMO about ordering this car with the way BMW is going? My biggest fear is ordering a 2019 M2C and then in 2020 they release it with the S58. Coming from the F8x M3/M4 world I lived this in both 2015 and 2016 with upgrades right after I purchased.. it sucked.

i wouldn't do it with what you've already put into it.
if you're still unsatisfied later then maybe pick a new or used m2c in a couple years or so. drone is not a good enough reason to trade in a 2 year old car for a new one |

No way! All that aftermarket work and you are looking at switching? I have a totally stock 2017 M2 Perf. Edition that I'm not even sure I'll switch!

Why would you go to the S55 after making your N55 perfect? Do you really need MORE power?
You aren't getting "quite" the upgrade. That's forum brainwashing. It's a modest upgrade at best that, unless you tune it, you really won't enjoy as much as your current car. The marketing isn't worth it. Wait for the next M2. Your drone is the DP. The S55 drones as well, even stock. All BMW turbos do this and the minute you slap a DP on them, they become pretty nasty. FWIW my FI DP has been not too bad on the drone.

The fact that you are thinking about it means that you should do it. This is not a rational business decision - otherwise you would be asking your accountant.
If you don't do it, you will continually be asking yourself "what if?" every time you see another M2C. |

In the same boat as yours. Just difference is that I did actually declined the early offer that I had from my SA.
As you know, I modified mine very close to yours except two things. Eventuri CF engine cover and Awron Gauge. I have DV+ in mine but everything else is relatively the same just different manufacturer. As someone already have mentioned, it will really depend on your wallet. If you can afford this change considering the your own investment made to all these modification, I would definitely look into P car options. But again that is very personal preference. M2 will soon also end its cycle in 2 years or later. Soon after G8X M3/M4 comes into play. M2C will seem to nice but I would think keeping little gap between changing new motor will give you a better pleasure back (unless you are willing to change yours soon after new G87 comes into play). I plan to get next G80 M3. It is personal but I promised my family that I will keep my next car with 4 doors with reasonable space available at the back seat so an adult can fit there with car seat installed. Plus my wife also wishes to drive mine once a while so she said no 6MT (which I can argue to get my stick option back but 4 seat configuration will not changeable). Its tempted and I know it. I was there. Figures are not important as you think since we all not race drivers spending hours per a day on track. Save your money. Save your beautiful F87. When there is a change that needs to be made, make your move and you will not question like this. If you are asking other's opinion, you are already showing that this could not be right. I would suggest you to make your move move to another option when you would not even ask others opinion and firm of your own choice and thinking that you will not even look back. Your F87 is already a beast and will swift away M2C will see on street beside you. And I dont think you will just stop at stock M2C, but going with more mods and spend $$$$$ additional. Keep it! |

If I remember correctly, EOP of F87 is 10/2020 and EOP of F82 is 06/2020. I just think next gen M3/M4 with S58 will be introduced before the M2 with S58, which again will happen in the next gen of M2 IMO.
