I went from F80 DCT to F82 manual. I’m planning on going with a M2 manual. The DCT was pretty amazing when i first took ownership. But after 10 months of the M3, to me, it felt like any other automatic vehicle. I just love rowing through the gears, downshifting, heel toe downshifting, it makes the time I spend with my vehicle exponentially enjoyable.

I miss the MT, but Rev match keeps me in the DCT camp. Had DCT in my e92 M3 and M2. No downsides to DCT except the shifter my hand.

Drove all MT cars since 1984. Yes that's 34 years of MT. My left leg is BIGGER than my right.

I agree. Auto rev match was really cool the first few months. I disliked it after awhile and drove my M4 in sport+. The only thing i dislike about sport+, in 1st gear, every once in awhile the throttle sensitivity was ridiculous. It was like I was a first time driver, with the car bucking with the slightest tap on the throttle. Did you ever have this issue?

I experienced it during the first 1-2months of ownership. Later on, either throttle adaptation of the car worked and eliminated the issue or my foot adaptation calibrated itself and took care of it Seriously though, I don't have any sensitivity problems at all anymore and it's been almost 2 years since I took the delivery.

I just went and drove a 2016 M2 with DCT. While I liked it, and have driven BMW and Porsche dual-clutch transmissions before, it's just not for me.

I actually feel like I have more control over the car with the manual. It just feels a tad disconnected with DCT, although no doubt it's faster with DCT.

Definitely going with a 6 speed!

I have always owned manual cars, but I want my wife to be able to drive the new m2 comp. So unfortunately I am going with the DCT, the 2900 price tag hurts. I just got rid of my 2015 WRX 6 speed but I am keeping my 2006 S2000 6 speed. The s2000 is one of the best shifting manual cars around, it is a good stick to have in the stable.

G platform M2(C) is the platform to switch to MT because they won't have the DCT as an option.

Not true.
Manual costs $58,900 plus options.
DCT just costs $2900 more.

DCT > MT after 4 years with dct never gelled with it. Granted this was in a 135i and the drive logic is different in the M's. Just cannot take the chance again.

Shame DCT standard and MT is a NCO in Australia.

There are currently 4 people who voted for switching from 6MT to DCT. I know MartyE12345 is one of them. Who are the other 3? Would like to hear you guys' reasoning!

That's pretty much where I was trying to go with this thread. I just wanna see different perspectives or motivations behind making this switch either way. What made you chose DCT over 6MT on M2, do you ever miss 6MT, or do you love the DCT?
There are a few factors that made me decide with the DCT this time around:
- Mainly my crappy work commute and M2 is my only car.
- DCT is really good and I just want to experience it at least once in my life. Life is too long to be restricted to any one thing lol.
- BMW manual gear box leaves a lot to be desired. Very rubbery feel, and there doesn't appear to be a single good aftermarket solution. I didn't enjoy it whenever I drove my brother's 335.
- Don't like auto rev and the fact that it requires finger dancing to disable it at each start up. My C7 had it too but it defaults to off at start up.
- Boost drop between shifts in a turbo car.

DCT is a big chunk of change so I didn't decide lightly. Everything just kind of aligns, you know...

DCT is pretty exceptional and I am impressed by it. So far I haven't missed manual yet but I know that will eventually change. I am pretty sure I will have a manual car in my life again in 2-3 years. I will either add an ND Miata, or replace the M2 with a manual C8 Vette and an auto winter beater.

Currently 6 speed and sticking with 6 speed.

It the weekend toy, not looking to be the fastest want to enjoy the car fully.

I daily a 135i DCT and love it, but wouldn't get the M2/M2C other than manual.

No, but I do turn it off often. You can code it off FWIW.

I wouldn't give up my 6spd even if it was $5,000 cheaper to get DCT.

For those talking about or wondering about rev matching, if you just ignore it and heel and toe as a matter of course I believe it over-rides it in most cases I.e. You rev before the sensor is activated and it goes with your input. In any case, if you drive rev matching yourself, you just don't notice it's there whether it's helping or not. And to be honest, the cars so benign that driving it with DSC off isn't a problem and so you can do it all yourself anyway!😀

M2 is my first Auto and i absolutely love it, but i miss 2 things:
- the ability to rev whenever i like, in tunnels, to hear the music even at low speed, to show off a little
- sometimes changing gears just when i accelerate feels like turbo lag when it isnt ...

I actually really like the 6-speed DSG in my Golf R. I may have considered it in the M2 but at $3500 CDN it’s just too much money to justify as I’m the type of person that appreciates a good manual transmission as much as a good DCT.

Went from a DCT M2 to a 6MT M3. Neither are daily drivers. I really missed the engagement I feel w/ a stick. Even though the DCT was a very cool feature, I'm glad I elected the manual in my M3 - maybe the last one according to some rumors.

I have 3 cars, 2 manuals and 1 auto. I own both manuals and lease the auto. When the lease is up on the auto I MAY sell the M2 (manual) and go with the new M3 in DCT. and go down to 2 cars. The other manual being my 85 Porsche 911 RSR tribute.
