I was really hoping the next GT4 would be NA but the exhaust arrangement on all the test mules that's seen so far point to some sort of turbo which would take away a lot of what made the 981 GT4 so special. Even the next GT3 is apparently going the turbo route. |

I am just saying that M2 Competition = base M2 makes 0 sense, to me anyway. If they happened to call the S55 version of the car a CS and did away with the "base" that would make more sense and actually "somewhat" conform to the current M3/4 nomenclature. On the subject of weight of the M3/4 CS' weight, I agree with you, but at least they did a few things to try and bring the piggish weights under control. Be careful of going and getting a Porsche - you will be ruined (in a good way) forever - nothing comes close to my old 981 in the subjective driving pleasure department.

I haven't seen anything that points to the 718 GT4 being forced induction? I would be really disappointed if that were the case...didn't the Porsche GT boss say something to the effect that the GT cars would be NA for a while longer??? EDIT - also, keeping the 718 GT4 NA helps Porsche keep the Cayman in line, in regard to the pecking order. If they give that mid-engine car a lot of grunt, it's going to be nipping at the GT3's heels, or maybe surpassing it. Hell the 718 Boxster S is only 2 seconds off the Ring time of the GT4, and that's on inferior tires...

I don't think this will be the end - I really don't. There seems to be even more interest and hype around the GT cars these days, and it's at least based on the fact that you can still get NA engines and MT (if you want)...those choices are dying by the wayside, so it would make sense for Porsche to keep it going as long as possible. It's a big selling point, wouldn't you agree?

I'd pitch a tent outside the Porsche dealer tonight if I could afford one.

I'm interested if the dealer mark-up isn't insane! I think it will go down as one of the P cars to own.

If the GT4 is going to be a MY2019, it would technically be more than 2 years since he made that statement. Really really hope that I am wrong though. Quote:
As a matter of fact, I have not seen BMW do that either. I know @Artemis probably has examples of this where they did change which he will share with us. Kind of hoping actually so I can continue to dream that the GT4 could still be NA. Quote:

It's ridiculos, BMW will not sell only a CS model (limited of course as for the M4 CS) while they are selling so much M2 standard model. Don't forget, the current M2 standard will never be produced anymore... on a BMW economic side, it makes really sense to sell a competition and why not, later, a CS model.

However , note that the ZCP version of the M3 and M4 basically replaced the stock version of those cars correct ? BMW ditched the original non adaptive shock setup from the first year model quickly. I expect the M2 comp to replace the M2 with a slightly higher base price but more options boxes for the dealers (oops- BUYERS) to check so they can add some more profit to the sale. Time will tell if bmw has the chutzpah to make an M2 CS or M2 CSL. |

I think that if they don't make the CS/csl/gts version of the M2 then they'll be missing out on a lot of customers. Since I'm keeping my M4, there's no need for me to get a regular M2 or M2 CT (my dealer said it'll be badged as the CT, short for competition). I want a car that's designed for more track usage. Before anyone says get a GT3 or GT4. The dealer here for new ones have a select group of people that they sell GT cars to and I'm not one of them. I was told I could give them a 5k deposit for a GT3 and maybe they'd consider me for the 992.2 GT3. Absolutely outrageous. If we don't get the M2 CS then in the next couple of years I'm going to import an E46 M3 CSL. Cars like that need to be 15 years old and they can be imported without any updates to safety/emissions/etc. |
