I was using an IPhone 8 and I decide to switch back to an IPhone 6 running the latest iOS 11.1. This change helps me with the problem.

Ive got no issues now following the update, I had one slight hiccup the morning after updating but since then nothing, working like a charm.

Interestingly, I have had the odd bluetooth phonecall when I've rang out and the voice is in slow motion, really low and slurred (quite hilarious..!!) i hang up the call try again and its perfect. It happens perhaps 1 in every 10 calls

Latest update on my case. Apple is aware that similar reports have been made for similar concerns.

I have been experiencing a very persisting connectivity issue with my IPhone 8 Plus.
Every time that I’m in my car my phone is causing the 'I drive' on my BMW to reboot during the phone calls. This means that the whole system shuts down.
I have done the following things that led me to conclude that the IPhone 8 was definitely the problem:
1.0 I took my car to the dealer 4 times and they performed multiple tests and never were able to replicate the issue (without my IPhone 8 being near). BMW of Germany was involved in the test and they didn’t find any issue with the software, the 'I Drive' or the Bluetooth connection.
2.0 I restored my IPhone 8 plus, restored completely. Bluetooth connections and the issue persist.
3.0 I restored the Bluetooth connection multiple times and the issue persist I took my phone to the IPhone store for a test, since they were unable to find anything that they could fix, they replaced my phone with a new one. The issue has been the same with the new phone.
4.0 I removed the sim card from the new IPhone 8 Plus and put it to my old IPhone 6 and I used the phone in my car for 5 days and I didn’t have any issues at all. The 'I drive' was performing excellent and I had multiple calls without interruption.
5.0 I performed the same test and switched back the sim card to the IPhone 8 Plus and the problem during phone call started to happen again.
All the phones were running the same iOS 11.1.0 and iOS 11.1.2
In conclusion this is a problem with the IPhone 8 Plus.

Random Bluetooth Audio disconnects after upgrading to iOS 12.2

I have been experiencing random Bluetooth Audio disconnects since upgrading to iOS12.2

I have tried restarting my phone, reinstalling BMW Connected app, rebooting iDrive, etc.

Recently, looking into the iOS diagnostic logs, I realised that the BMW Connected App crashes, seemingly causing the Bluetooth audio connection to be disconnected as well. Uninstalling the app seems to have solved the disconnection problem.

I am still monitoring the situation so far. But if it have solved the problem completely, I suspect there is incompatibility between iOS 12.2 and the BMW iOS Connected app, causing it to crash when connected to iDrive via Bluetooth.

Just thought I would share this in case someone is experiencing the same.

Hi,

I have the same issue, deconnection after few minutes of usage. I don't have BMW connected App on my device so I'm more in favour of an incompatibility between the BMW car's firmware and the new bluetooth stack from iOS 12.2

That's pretty annoying, I didn't find a working work-around so far.
My car is BMW X3 F25 from 2011.

Octy.

And also what i found is i had a few times a short big noise from the speakers, the same like if the big pebbles flew in the windshield.
Has anyone the same problem?

I use CarPlay which relies on the car WiFi and have zero problems.

The problem for me would then be that I find the music quality over CarPlay a lot worse than Bluetooth. Doesn’t make sense technically, since WiFi has more bandwidth.. but that is what I have observed.

I suspect it’s due to the specific way that BMW has implemented CarPlay.

No issues with bluetooth here in regards to disconnecting, but there is a crazy delay between pushing a button and the phone responding. Nearly 10 seconds when you change tracks. Rebooted both iDrive and iPhone and no change. Anyone else have this issue?

Just a suggestion but I'd say try to have a buddy with iOS 12.2 connect to tour car and see if the disconnects happen on their phone. If it does i say your next step is having your dealer update istep

Over the weekend I have got quite fed up. Ended doing a full erase and restore of my phone.

I will be going on a road trip this weekend, and I would know how that plays out. Hoping for the best...

Having the same issues with 12.2... Haven't found a solid work around other than disconnecting the BT and reconnecting..

iOS 12.2 basically turned my iPhone X into a brick....

Some even say its the worst software update of the past 30 years. Bug list seems to show over 450 different issues in all areas one could imagine.

Hopefully Apple delivers a ton of fixes very soon.

It says my software is already up to date unfortunately...

However, my phone worked really well after erasing and restoring it from iCloud last week. Went on a weekend road trip (1000 miles!!) without any connection issues. Seems to be way better now.

Doing that reset your network settings which is likely what fixed the issue. This happened on my wife's F80. She updated to 12.2 and so did I. Both had same issue. Updating the iDrive software fixed her issue, resetting network settings in my phones general settings fixed mine.
