I just confirmed it worked with my Apple Leather Case. I have an Anker IQ charger for the car to give me a quicker charge.

I?ll get a BMW battery score sometime soon. I have a fast wireless charger at home but limited to 5W till an IOS firmware allows 7.5W... I don?t expect it to be any better than what I have at home. I?m hoping the wireless charger in MY17 is 10W but I haven?t found any specs toward output.

You guys need to be posting phone OS version, iDrive version from nav and the bluetooth/media versions along with the problem you are seeing. That way people can confirm fixes, try duplicating, etc.

Ok so I?m currently using an iPhone 7 running IOS11.0.2 along with iDrive 6 Lite, coded via Bimmercode.

I?ve just noticed there?s an IOS update (11.0.3) which supposedly to fix connectivity issues with iPhone 7?s. I?m currently updating so I will feedback ASAP.

Meanwhile, here are the symptoms.

1. Bluetooth audio will not start playing until you hit play on the iPhone itself.
2. You can no longer change tracks via the steering wheel controls. The tracks come up on the gauges, however when you press the scroller in, nothing happens - the arrow buttons on the dash still function as normal, as does selecting the track via iDrive.
3. Bluetooth audio takes an unacceptable amount of time to display available tracks. It was faster with IOS10.

If the update to IOS11.0.3 does not rectify the problems I?ll try reverting back to iDrive 5 and try again.

Ever since I got my iPhone 8 this reboot is happening on my head unit when the call connects. It only happens on my 2. I had my software updated at the dealer yesterday to the latest version and still happening.
I do not have the version details with me but they confirmed the latest for my car. They also said that the 2 does not share the same info system (wrong description) as the other bmws I have???? The iphone has all the current updates.

Well, the first few times after the update it did it again but now it seems fixed. Could it take a while for it to register or ?sync? with the car?
Will check again driving home in a bit

Update. Definitely not fixed. Happens multiple times during some calls and then ok on another. Waiting for a patch. Very frustrating.

Yep, ive had a couple of hiccups on it today. Once I get out and return to the car its fine again. VERY annoying. How difficult is it to just get it right when they release an update? Its 2017 ffs!

Apple iOS topics

I've been having big problems with the Bluetooth connectivity since the iPhone iOS upgrade. It connects but cuts in and out. Using T-Mobile. Anyone else? Any fixes? Unfortunately, it's not just with Bluetooth. I'll be contacting Apple but I was wondering if anyone had the same problem with getting reception and found a fix.

Two separate issues here. Bluetooth is just the phone's connection to the car. That's not your problem.

What you're describing is spotty network coverage, with calls cutting in and out on T-Mobile's network. It's not Apple's fault, either, as software doesn't do much of anything regarding network reception. You should speak with T-Mobile about their coverage, and explore alternative providers if they don't offer the coverage you need.

My issue is unable to play music though iDrive after every few days, I can see my phone stil connected to iDrive and music play option is ticked.

Very annoying and I have to remove the connection on both side and pair again

No and no. I've been using the same phone with the same network for several years. The problems occurred immediately after installing the new iOS. Others have had the same problem. I was hoping someone on this forum had a similar problem and a fix.
It's likely unrelated to Bluetooth but I was wondering if using a Bluetooth connection would further diminish an already compromised connectivity issue after the new iOS update. The carrier's lte is in fact now the fastest.

I have T-Mobile and have not had a problem with the phone but the itunes audio is horrible. Searching for music works but it won't play music until I pres PLAY on the phone and when I scroll through music on in the car it takes like 10 seconds for the music to switch tracks.

Hi,

I had the issue with iOS 11.01-03. Frustrated the heck out of me. I ended up signing up as a beta tester for iOS 11.1 (currently on beta 5) and it solved most of the issues.

With iOS 11.0.1-.0.3, I couldn't:
Use Streaming music Apps; Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, etc... They would not load.

CarPlay was hit and miss.

Bluetooth iPod Streaming would drop and most of the time, the car would state that there is no Bluetooth device connected.

With iOS 11.1 Beta 5, I can:
Use Streaming Music Apps 9 out of 10 times with no issue (sometimes I have to reboot the phone and then it would connect automatically)

CarPlay is much more stable

Bluetooth iPod Streaming works 9 out of 10 times.

If you don't want to install iOS 11.1 beta, then you may want to wait within a week or two for the official 11.1 update. It should resolve most issues.

Thanks. I found some improvement by turning off the WiFi. I thought that .03 was supposed to solve that problem. It was throwing me off lte and on to G4, too. With WiFi off it's better. Man, what a mess.

How is this going for you all? Having the same super annoying issue in my car. This happened with iOS 10 last year initially but Apple fixed it via a software update. Feel like at this point I’m just screwed if they haven’t fixed it by now
