I don't think the timeliness of traffic data has anything at all to do with iDrive.

I don't care where it pulls traffic data from. It's delayed compared to other maps applications. That's the comparison.

I use Google maps and Waze which can have more details, but RTTI radio updates are about as fast in my city. No technical reason it should be any slower either unless you don't have local HD broadcasts for some reason and it's switching to RDS. How long are the delays you are experiencing for Nav road condition updates vs your iPhone app?

I ran a full day without Car Play. While the text reading option is nice. Not going to lie the little touches (i.e. Artist and song view, notifications) on both the cluster and iDrive display is nice to have. Car Play is by no means perfect and has a long way to go, but I've found a good happy medium of using both. My biggest gripe is read and inputting of texts ( I would love to know what is coming in and out via text visually on top of being read out loud by Siri as sometimes it's just easier to read it). Provided my feedback to BMW NA. We'll see if this happens.

Take your car in to BMW have them update the care to the latest Ilevel 3.61.2 and your issues will be fixed. Not perfect but way better then before.

I have updated my car and things work much better now.

bmw.com/update says my car is already up to date. Will the dealer have a newer version of the software?

Not true I'm on latest update and esys coding works fine

You need to have bmw dealer update the cars software not from BMW.com/update

Full car flash to 3.61.2

Those user updates only affect a tiny subset of iDrive related to bluetooth - phone capabilities and bug fixes.

Yes I saw that too on the blinkers but I never coded this. Software update did help car play also in ID5 if you have car play now both bmw apps and car play work at the same time in i level 3.61 and on which before it didn't

Text display on works in Bluetooth mode or car play

If you are in Bluetooth mode on your iPhone make sure you enable notifications under the Bluetooth device for your car should be the last 7 digits of your vin

What version of idrive do you have mine is starts with the letter K

Go to nav settings software and it will tell you there.

Yes there was an update in March. I know cause I did it myself to the car using esys.
