With some imagination, the more I look at it from the side, the more it seems to be an E46 M3 CSL Hommage.

At first glance I loved it. Then it started to get uglier to me the more I looked at it. Like a Back to the Future II car with future bits stuck to it.

But now seeing it in "real" photos I like it again. Go figure. :

Does anyone else see a Force Awakens Stormtrooper mask on the back?

I would buy this in a heartbeat if it would be the next 2 Series Coupe.
Unfortunately this will just be another nice concept and we might get another stupid niche model instead, maybe a 3 Series Allroad?

Guys, decide finally what car is the "modern successor" to the 2002 turbo. First, it was the 135i in 2007, M235i in 2014, then the M2 last year, and now the 2002 Hommage Concept. Leave the poor 02 alone.

That said, the concept is really cool.

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I really hope the kidneys, wheels and paint is part of the list. Oh, and the sweet airdam design. While I appreciate the M2 for the striking design, this front airdam is more suitable for a future M2 being that it is a pure design, and not so much as an after thought, as it appears on the current M2.

Edit: I really like the ducktail spoiler

I think BMW design is shopping for new iconic features and the i design fenders are where they seem to be spending a lot of attention.
Or how about that the BMW typical characteristics are well copied and assimilated that we have to constantly progress.
I mean look at Volkswagen with its double halo headlights and hofmeister kicks now.

They had a closed off Terrace in which they showed the new 5er by invitation.
It has officially started the countdown.
