That's common sense? Random, unsupported linear interpolation comparing completely different engines? Not all of BMW's turbo motors have the same headroom for gains from a tune. See, for example, the N54 vs. N55, or the S55 vs. the N55, etc. You just can't blindly scale up like that.

How about we look at what we know, from a technical standpoint?

If you know anything about these engines, you know the turbo size is the limiting factor on the N55 from the M235i.

If the M2 is using the same small turbo, you're going to be similarly limited in output without swapping it out. AKA, a tuned M235 N55 and a tuned M2 N55 may very well be very similar, and nowhere near the numbers you're throwing around. Again, that turbo just doesn't have much headroom left in it.

The M3/4s twin turbo setup has MUCH more headroom as far as aftermarket gains go. It's huge aftermarket potential is completely irrelevant to the discussion.

If you're assuming the M2 will see 400-450 whp on a tune-only, you're assuming that it has a larger turbo vs. the 235. That may very well be true and I'm sure we're all hoping for it...but we have no evidence of that at this point.

One would think BMW would have mentioned a larger turbo, since they took the time to list all the other engine improvements vs. the regular N55. But alas, they didn't...

Couldn't that be telling of a carry-over snail?

Exactly, just because we have a version doesn't mean it is the latest version.

Agreed, therefore it could be argued that the OP's post poses more questions than answers then.

Wait with your judgement until you hear the road noise now that the sound insulation is removed.

Interesting how the gearbox clearly has drive logic modes, they even show the gearbox button in the doc, but no actual physical switch next to the gear lever..

Also like how the flaps are always open in sport but open in comfort above a certain rpm.

Design is all about making good decisions for a user - interesting to see them put all the functions down to the comfort/ sport / sport+ switch rather than individual buttons.

Kinda like it - sport will defiantly be my main mode

Don't worry, the ASD will drown that out!

All jokes aside, I don't think it will that bad.

Bro, bro, bro.

You think I'd give up on this car.

After all of the blood sweat and tears?

I'd accept delivery with a smile on my face even if it sounded like standing on a f*cking helipad.

3.3. Interior
Various insulation materials were omitted in the area of the interior in order to reduce weight.
As a result of this omission of insulating material, it was possible to achieve a weight saving of approx. 11 kg / 24 lbs compared with the F22.
M2 Project Manager Frank Isenberg also referred to this in the CAR interview (here and here):
Both transmissions are borrowed from the M4, ratios, final drive and all, and there's the same M locking diff that's been helping hoons powerslide for almost two decades. But here's what I can't fathom: the M4's aluminium suspension sheds some weight, but there's the wider track, larger wheels and brakes, a diff, the burlier bodywork and extra strengthening. How on earth is M2 only a claimed 30kg heavier than M235i ?
"We ripped out all the sound deadening!" laughs Isenberg. "So you hear more and it removes a lot of weight."
