Yes and no, often times the big chain dealers like Penske dealers for example have rules preventing them for charging above MSRP. I dont know if these are internal rules that management setup or if they are pushed down from BMW Corporate. I got this info straight from my CA a couple months ago.

This would be a killer deal if the price is true.

After seeing the $51k MSRP, I started to ask myself if I made the right choice by ordering my M235xi (set to arrive later this month). I've made a list that helps me do just that:

1) I need AWD.
2) Even though its $51k MSRP, after the options I would want it would be closer to probably 55-58k anyway which is a bit above my budget (48k sale price for my 235i, M2 would be a 30% increase over that after my trade in)
3) I tried getting a 1M instead of my 135i and the MSRP markup was ridiculous, got to assume allocations are going to be nuts on this and the markup will be as well
4) Delivery in Q2 2016 is a long wait and I am having trouble waiting on the 235 as is
5) The thing looks amazing, and I know it will drive great, but I unfortunately live in Chicago where I wouldnt even be able to use all its driveability

I will pick one up a few years down the road probably, excited for others to get them though!

Yea. I believe it. I have my daily as xdrive with snow tires in the winter and all last winter in the northeast i drove in 6+ inches of snow weekly and even 12+ to go skiing in vermont. While im sure RWD with snows would have worked i feel more confident with AWD

If it's only 50k....I wonder if I can swing one for a garage mate next to my 981.
The leaked article posted makes it sound like this will be a limited run car, says 500 heading to the UK. So I will be very surprised if you will even be able to find a 0 option M2 for less than $65k. Maybe even more since dealers will be playing off the 1M's success.

This has been debated ad nauseam on the forum and I think we will have to wait and see how it actually works out.

My guess on this the whole time has been that while the car will not be a limited production vehicle (like the 1M), BMW will nevertheless be cautious about how many they make. Aka, it might be a harder car to procure than say, an M3 or M4.

The Z4MC "overproduction" will still be fresh in their collective minds - and that car was a screamer...

Haven't been here for the debates, just going off of what this morning's leak said. http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1183571 Seems like a pretty decent source (apparently a leak from tomorrow's copy of Auto Express)

Totally makes sense - I wasn't trying to give you a hard time, just saying that there have been passionate arguments on both sides and no one knows for sure.

All good, I'm hoping it's not a limited production because I've got my pennies saved and it's either the M2 or a GT350. And I'm kinda hoping it's not the mustang.

DCT is $2900, lighting is $1900, Plus tax and registration fees, otherwise how can you say "out door price"?

Wow, so many commenting on the 1M and not knowing the entire story. I'd venture to say less than 15% of the 1Ms were marked up in price. Most dealers didn't even know what they had, so they didn't mark them up. California was probably the worst state to buy a 1M as the west coast dealers are greedy SOBs.

I never said the 1m was marked up. I said dealers will possibly mark up the M2 (if it is indeed a limited run car) because of the success and desirability of the limited run 1M, which has greatly affected its value. IE if I'm a dealer and I have a used 1m for $52k on the lot, and my new M2 comes in with just as limited numbers, I'm sure as hell not selling it for MSRP.

The car will be hard to find the first year, but it'll be made for 4 years. So no, it's not limited.

Easy-- A W D.

This is not an argument about RWD and snows. Instead, consider that EVERY SINGLE car on most lot's in the NE have Xdrive. Your average BMW driver, myself included says "M235i can be a DD but the M2, not so much."

you might want to stop saying that until you see all the production numbers.

400 for the UK for the 1M.. and 500 seems to be the # for the M2..
