Of course, most of us here would though
Have to understand also that the M2 comes standard with leather seats and Nav. Add all that up and the M235i comes out to $48,545. $51k - $48.5k = a difference of only $2.5k!
Nav standard??

That's because the 1 series coupe was narrow and had a belly like a pregnant cat. They had to compensate.

Not exactly. Its because the 1er in general looked wilder by comparison and was way more aggressive by design.

The M235i is soft to begin with. Go take a look at the Fender flares on a 128i or135i.

B. If it leases well enough to be better month to month vs a F80 with DCT.

If either of those are a no, I may have to pull the trigger on something else, since kids are likely on the way in the next 24 months.
That is a very long gestation period? Are you an elephant, by chance?

They also throw in the black 437 M 19" wheels 'free of charge':
  • M2: stock
  • M3/M3: EUR2,050 option (Germany)
Sure about NAV being stock ?

MSRP? Im shooting for invoice... I do think some will mark them up though, especially those that think this is the second coming of the 1M.

Look hard enough and the invoice deals can be had, I had at least half a dozen allocations at invoice for the 1M.... and every other car Ive ever owned.

And your1M was a special low numbered car. So I agree 100%.

Agreed. I was doing a bit of reading to see any differentiators or a reason to not spend the additional cash for the M2 but I couldn't find any. I guess if people decide to go for the M2 over the M235i, it's better for BMW but Mercedes indirectly screwed BMW here. The CLA only has the CLA250 and and CLA45, obviously the difference is huge both mechanically and price (15k difference?). The 2-Series has 228i, M235i and now M2 with the price within the same range.
The CLA45 and its lower non-AMG alternative are FWD with a piggy rear diff to make AWD.

So it is cheaper to make the non-AMG version than a base RWD car such as the 228i.

Hence the price diff in the merc situation.

I had guessed the M2 would price 54-56k!!!! The 51k price is awesome!!!!!

I guess the Navigation system Professional will not be standard in Europe. They ain't very generous here.

Standard nav or not, the price is really good if you spec the M235i with leather seats and whatnot.

Navi is not standard i remember seeing that in the official spec sheet

51k is decent pricing considering that M2 does not come with many as standard equipment

It can easily reach low 60k with decent option while M3 starts in low 60k with more power and some decent standard equipment

Im not saying M2 is not worth it.... Just know that BMW already increased the price from previous model 1M and see how much room there is for profit for BMW

I found a list of option on the spec sheet

As you can see, many little things are listed as option

from the day i bought the 1M in 2011, i predicted it would be surpassed by a M2 with 365bhp and carried 4 colours instead of 3. even though i live in Oz, from the day i bought the 235, i predicted a USD51k for M2. i also foresaw Donald Trump running for US presidency even tho i'm sydneysider. it's also coming true!!!

That is no the US spec sheet thought. We usually get some of the options as standard and there are packages instead of al la carte.

Ohhh ok in that case, lets hope that many of these come as standard!

Good for us guys that want strippers though
+1. Typical build will likely be low 60s. Stripper price gets them the competitive opening price point but its the typical/average build that actually affects their P&L.

There is no such thing as a "Fantastic deal" when it comes to cars there is just a lot less worse then the previous one you made.

Very exited for the release today!!!
